‘Rookie Blue’ Season 6 All Set to Get a Surprise Twist; Season 7 Still Uncertain

Peter Mooney, one of the main actors of the Canadian police drama TV series “Rookie Blue” has disclosed a big plot twist in the show’s ongoing Season 6 in both the US and Canada. As the series is still in progress, there is not much information on whether or not the show will be renewed for Season 7.

In a recent interview, TV Fanatic said that Mooney revealed that a new twist on the plot of “Rookie Blue” will happen on Season 6 that even the cast members of the show did not see it coming.

Mooney explained that there is no stable information yet on whether or not the series will have a Season 7, but he did indicate that the cast is at the point of wanting to find out soon. In addition, when asked about his expectations of a possible Season 7, Mooney explained that it shall all depend on the challenges or plotlines that the show is going to put forth.

“Rookie Blue” Season 6 is currently on TV with its fourth episode just aired last week in the US. According to TV Fanatic, the latest episode of “Rookie Blue” has brought clarifications into the one of the main characters in the series. The episode aired on  July 17 and revealed the details about the background of  the character, Nick, which is played by Mooney.

When asked about the plot for episode four, Peter Mooney claimed the revelation of the details about his Nick character is meant to give fans the opportunity to know more about him. He continued to explain that the episode revealed the full story of Nick by showing his chain of memories.

Grey’s Anatomy of police life

“Rookie Blue” falls under the genre of police drama television series, and was actually regarded as the “Grey’s Anatomy” of police life. It was created by Morwyn Brebner, Ellen Vanstone, and Tassie Cameron. The series premiered in 2010 and has been airing for the past five seasons with 13 episodes each, not counting the current Season 6.

“Rookie Blue” airs on ABC in the United States and on ET and Global TV in Canada, starring Gregory Smith and Missy Peregrym. The series plot is set in Toronto, and it deals with the lives of freshly graduated cops from Division 15. The rookie cops are faced with work-related problems, as well as private issues. The series follows the development of the characters as they deal with their respective problems.

The show has been nominated for numerous awards, such as Best Writing in a Dramatic Series, Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series, and Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series.

The first season  finished its run on September 9. 2010 with the last day airing a double episode. It was produced by Canwest, E1 Entertainment, and Thump Inc. The promotional campaign for the show included spots during the series finales on Global print ads, online ads,  billboards, and also on online games. The premiere episode generated 2.1 million viewers, ranking it at the top of most viewed series in Canada.

Season 1 was also successful in the United States, where it was announced to be the show that had the most successful summer debut in the US. The premiere episode “Fresh Paint” reached a remarkable number of 7.240 million viewers.

Season 2 started airing on June 23, 2011, on Global  TV and CTV. The first episode of the season scored 5.88 million viewers. Season 2 kept the majority of the Season 1 cast and it maintained a high viewing percentage in the US and Canada.
