‘Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic’ Becomes the Latest Toast in Mobile Gaming; Critics Think Game Looks Promising!

A new game outside of “Pokemon Go” and “Super Mario Run” has become the latest toast in mobile gaming since last month and it is a rendition of a classic PC game.

Atari has just released “Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic,” a mobile game on the Atari-produced theme park sims.

The game takes its cues from the original “RollerCoaster Tycoon” and “RollerCoaster Tycoon 2,” offering a simpler take on park design, construction, and management than more recent titles in the series, reports Touch Arcade.

More than a year ago, the PC classic “RollerCoaster Tycoon 3” also made it as a mobile game and gamers had loads of fun with it. But “RollerCoaster Tycoon 4” was a huge disappointment.

Fans of the classic franchise have another reason to celebrate because “Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic” has just hit the Apple Store and Google Play Store valued at $5.99.

Critics think that the “Rollercoaster Typhoon Classic” looks very promising. The new game combines the best of “RollerCoaster Tycoon” and “RollerCoaster Tycoon 2” and many gamers are having fun with it, details Engadget.

Building from scratch or pre-made ones

“Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic” lets gamers build roller coasters either from scratch or using pre-made ones and also lets them design a whole park, including the food and drink stalls, transport, even the toilets, and the scenery.

When everything is up and running, the gamers have to keep an eye on their park’s finances and make tricky decisions that can make or break their respective park.

If gamers like management games, “Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic” is definitely one to check out.

The game comes with a variety of environments, over 95 classic park scenarios from the first two games and additional expansion packs and features as in-game app purchase, which is considered by critics as lots of content for only $5.99.

Minimal microtransactions only

One good thing about the game is that it is not stuffed with microtransactions because the gamer does not have to shell out so much after buying the game.

But then, there are a few in-app purchases. Two content packs, namely “Wacky Worlds” and “Time Twister,” based on the “RollerCoaster Tycoon 2” of the same name are available for $1.99 each

There is also a Toolkit that lets the game edit scenarios, design rides and so on. It also lets him or her import or export saved parks with cross-platform support for “RollerCoaster Tycoon 2” on PC, but that comes at a price of $6.

Unlocking everything for “Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic” would cost $16, but unbundling it on a piece-meal basis makes sense given that many gamers will have no interest in the editor or additional content.

After the microtransactional mess that was ”RollerCoaster Tycoon 4” for mobile, and the poorly received “RCT World” for PC, it’s genuinely surprising to see that Atari actually understands what people want from an “RCT” title.

“Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic” is a construction and management simulation mobile game developed by Origin8 Technologies and published by Atari.

The game combines features that were first seen in “RollerCoaster Tycoon” and “RollerCoaster Tycoon 2,” which were both amusement park management simulators created by Chris Sawyer for the PC. The mobile game was released worldwide in December 2016.

In March 2016, Chris Sawyer revealed that he was working on the game. In July 2016, Sawyer revealed that the game would be written entirely in C, and would contain several new elements.

The game was released for both Android and iOS devices on December 22, 2016. On that same day, Sawyer released a statement explaining his reason for developing the game.

He said that it was his long-term ambition to bring the classic game to modern touch screen devices as its visual style and tactile nature are so well suited to smartphones and tablets.

Meanwhile, Atari stated that the game should appeal to both long-time fans, as well as new players.
