Roll Out of ‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’ Pushed Back 2016 to Have the Same Release Year as ‘Uncharted’ the Movie

Consider it for reasons of cost-efficiency and potential marketing success, but developer Naughty Dog, on the recommendation of Sony PlayStation, has delayed the release of the open-world action adventure third person video game “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” to next year.

Previous reports have already indicated that the video game would be release on the latter part of this year exclusively to the PlayStation 4.

Apparently, the decision of Sony PlayStation to push back the release of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” to next year is to ensure that the game will be release on the same year that the movie about the franchise will hit the theaters, reports Variety.

“Uncharted” is to be produced by Sony Pictures, a sister company of Sony PlayStation, and it will have a playdate of June 10, 2016.

Difficult choice

“Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann at developer Naughty Dog say that the decision to move the release date of the widely-anticipated video game from later this year to next year was a difficult choice for them considering how excited the fans are on it and so are they.

Eventually, they realized that the video game is more ambitious than the two of them originally envisioned it to be.

They also added that after they have spent so many years with Nathan Drake, the protagonist of the game, they also realized that he means a lot to the development team as well as the fans and gamers that he deserves nothing but the best climactic chapter for his adventures.

Straley and Druckmann said that they have not taken the task lightly knowing that the game deserves every bit of attention to detail, precise pacing, and seamless storytelling that they at Naughty Dog have been known for.

The duo said that the extra months that were given to them as a result of the delay in the official release date of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” will allow them to further fine-tune and perfect the game so that it meets not only their own high standards but more importantly, the topnotch standards of gamers.

Looks promising

Based on the gameplay trailer of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” that Naughty Dog has shown in the PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas, Nevada in December last year, the game shows a lot of promise. The graphics are first-rate and have not been seen in the previous three instalments of the franchise.

The storyline of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” will take place three years after “Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.” Due to some recent events, Nathan Drake will be force out of retirement to locate a lost pirate colony. Naughty Dog has also revealed that “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” is likely the last installment to the video game franchise.
