For the moment, the Roku 4 is in a relatively good position, but some have been pointing out that its success is actually largely reliant on the fact that it offers 4K streaming support, something which not everyone will necessarily find impressive.
People are definitely starting to show more interest in 4K televisions though, and that could benefit the position of Roku. On the other hand, if Apple decide to also include the feature in their next release, this could make things significantly more interesting.
But by then, we would expect that Roku will be even farther ahead in their own developments, ready to come out with an even more interesting offer than what they have right now. What that could be exactly we have no idea, but there are some rumors circulating around the company regarding their potential future developments.
In particular, we’re hearing claims that they might be looking into a faster, more active release cycle, but we’re not sure if that would actually be in their benefit right now. Given the rapidly evolving current nature of the market, it could work, but on the other hand it could also pay off to be more patient and wait to see where things head over a longer period of time.
