It’s interesting to see how devices like the Roku and its competitors have managed to reshape our idea for television into something more interactive and fine-tuned to the user’s preferences. It certainly didn’t use to be this way, and as we said above, TV used to have a more restrictive reputation.
It would be interesting to see where things end up a couple of years from now. There are some predictions that traditional TV is on its way out and will be largely irrelevant soon, although it’s probably too early to draw drastic conclusions like that.
There is a lot of interest in this market from major tech giants though, which is good, because they are the ones that can set the new trends that people have been asking for.
Apple have been trying to be a bit more innovative with their concept for TV streaming as well, although their experiments are still in a bit of an early stage. We expect that 2016 will be an even more active year for companies in this field, and we’re probably going to see even more interesting experiments and new developments in these devices. Perhaps even a new major company will join the competition, although we have no good guess about which one it might be exactly.
