Rockstar Blocking Cheats and Banning Cheaters from ‘GTA Online’

Game developer Rockstar Games seems to be doing something which is quite new in the gaming community. It is not only curtailing cheats, it is also banning cheaters from “GTA Online,” the multiplayer version of the open-world action adventure video game “Grand Theft Auto V” on the next-gen gaming consoles and the PC.

As one of the most popular, if not the most popular video game today, “GTA V” counts some of the most avid gamers and fans who really like to spend so much time and money on the game just to accomplish the missions and objectives well ahead of the rest.

However, the game also counts many gamers who like to take advantage of glitches to be able to gain infinite amount of game cash and duplicate items that they can use for “GTA Online.”

The New York-based Rockstar Games has reportedly started collaborating with YouTube to prevent cheaters from publishing their videos on the site and explaining to other gamers how those cheats on “GTA Online” work.

Dealing with YouTube leakers

Based on its agreement with Rockstar, YouTube has been taking video posts of “GTA Online” gamers who like to share cheats and glitches of the video game and possibly take advantage of money rewards and some game items all for free.

But the “GTA” YouTubers have apparently found a way to circumvent the new YouTube mandate by not publishing actual gameplay scenes on how things need to be done in the game and capitalize on the glitch or cheat.

YouTuber RSH is a perfect example of somebody who has circumvented the possibility of getting banned and his video being removed from YouTube. He posted a video on YouTube, but instead of putting actual gameplay scenes the way most leakers have been doing in the past, he just explained to YouTubers how to bypass the 45-minute wait after the 1.26 patch in “GTA V” for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

While some gamers were not happy with the sudden shift on Rockstar to become stricter on cheaters, still many are happy that the developer has taken drastic measures to make cheaters toe the line, notes Gamepur.

Sour-graping

One YouTuber was candid enough to explain that the reason why cheaters are complaining of Rockstar’s latest move is because their YouTube careers depend largely on glitching. So if they don’t post glitches, they don’t get the many views that they usually get in sharing “GTA” glitches.

The commenter said that the problem with cheaters is that they do not like to play the game the way it is. Instead of enjoying and playing the missions, racing, skydiving, and doing the online heists, cheaters always find a way to shortcut the game processes.

He explained that the idea of putting the online heists is to enable gamers to have the opportunity to earn more money while having more fun. He added that if cheaters find the game already boring, then he advised them not to play the game anymore.

  1. What rockstar is doing isn’t surprising. Most game developers don’t encourage mods or unofficial cheats in their game and when you do see it, it’s always the smaller developers. I’d be intensely surprised if you saw someone like Rockstar or EA support mods.

  2. It is without any doubt at the pinnacle of open world
video game design. Bloodring Banger (very strong derby car)
is located outside of the arena where you do a mission in San Fierro.

It doesn’t take long for the class to pick up on the fact that you’re pretending they’re not
there, and that’s actually pretty offensive.
