The action-adventure video game, “Rise of the Tomb Raider,” the sequel to the highly successful “Tomb Raider” video game released in 2013, will be exclusively hitting Microsoft’s gaming consoles – the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 – during the Holidays.
Game developer Crystal Dynamics confirmed the release of the “Rise of the Tomb Raider,” which is also one of the highly-anticipated video games this year, reports The REM.
Published by Square Enix and Microsoft Studios, the game shall feature a new crafting system which would enable players to create items through scavenging of materials.
Gameplay trailer of the “Rise of the Tomb Raider” was first shown on June 9, 2014 during Microsoft’s E3 2014 event which was later televised during Xbox Live’s broadcast of the Miss Teen USA 2014 beauty pageant.
The gameplay trailer also provided a glimpse of the vastly improved game environment including a new weather system that both human and animal characters can react to. The game also follows a day-night cycle.
Also noticeable on this latest installment to the “Tomb Raider” video game series is the ability of Lara Croft to swim, which she can’t do during the first video game that was released in 2013.
Location and storyline
Based on the gameplay trailer that Crystal Dynamics released last year, the setting of “Rise of the Tomb Raider” is in Siberia in Russia. The storyline of the video game revolves around Lara Croft’s search for an invisible and ancient Russian city.
The city holds the key to the secret of immortality and Lara needs to find it before it falls into the wrong hands. The city is also guarded by a secret society of warriors, which Lara Croft will face and needs to defeat in order to get what she is looking for.
But the game will not be set entirely in Siberia. There is another location to the game but Crystal Dynamics is keeping it under wraps for the time being. Rumors have it however that the other location for “Rise of the Tomb Raider” is either Germany or India.
Until these rumors are confirmed by the developer, these are all merely speculations at this point.
Resembles another video game
The gameplay of “Rise of the Tomb Raider” is also similar to “The Last of Us,” video game.
Lara would need plenty of raw materials during the mission for her to be able to create traps and develop weapons which she would need to defeat the members of the secret society. She will also have the sport climbing axes as she will be doing a lot of wall climbing during the game.
Rumors flying around the internet also hinted that the level of difficulty of the game will be increasing as the game progresses. The puzzles that the gamer needs to solve will also be tougher as the player goes deeper into the game. So it is imperative that he shall be applying his critical mind to analyze the situation and solve the puzzles en route to finishing the game.
