On the other hand, some players have been calling for some attention to the original games. A remake of “Tomb Raider 2” or the third game could probably work very well right now. We already saw a reboot/remastered version of “Tomb Raider 1” which was received very positively, and it’s strange that the studio hasn’t moved in the direction of the other games yet.
For now, gamers should just focus on the release of “Rise of the Tomb Raider”, and follow the official accounts of the developers for any potential news regarding the franchise’s future. If any new sequels are in the works, now would probably be the best time to make an announcement about that.
After all, with so much attention focused on the re-release of the latest game, gamers would be ready to eat up any kind of information they can get about upcoming sequels, and any marketer worth their salt would be ready to jump on that situation and capitalize on what’s basically almost free promotion.
The only thing we’re hopeful for is that the release goes through smoothly without any unexpected hitches. It’s a new platform and anything can happen, even when the game has already had a release on other platforms in the past. If anything does go wrong though, hopefully the developers will be on standby to address the situation and aren’t going to rely on their past success to push them along.
