Singer Rihanna is starting to feel alarmed that a video footage of her wildly partying at the recent Coachella Music Festival could harm her budding movie career and possibly nipped it in the bud.
During the party celebration after the annual Coachella Music Festival held earlier this month, Rihanna simply let her hair down and partied to her heart’s content, the way that the biggest names in the music and entertainment industry normally do in the event, notes Yahoo! News.
But Rih-Rih was caught on video holding a rolled-up object in her hand which had those who have seen the clip speculate that it was possibly cocaine. The video immediately went viral in the internet and as expected, a number of the singer’s fans could not believe that their idol is into such a thing.
Rihanna immediately clarified through social media that the rolled-up object in the video was merely a cigarette and she was just basing it. She also set the records straight that she was not into cocaine as she is more of a fan of marijuana.
Damaging scandal
The “FourFiveSeconds” singer, according to sources close to her, got worried later on that the latest video scandal could stain her reputation and cost her opportunities to work with major film companies like Disney Pictures.
Rihanna has just recently worked with DreamWorks Pictures for the animated movie “Home,” where she voiced one of the main characters in “Home” alongside Jim Parsons, Steve Martin, and Jennifer Lopez.
Though merely an animated movie, Rihanna’s role in “Home” raised critics’ eyebrows as she really showed her potential to become a movie star too.
After “Home,” Rihanna is reportedly in the middle of negotiations for some major contract to do more movies, which would be great for her career to make her truly versatile. So the last thing she needs is a scandal alluding that she is into illegal drugs.
Although she appears to be calm and compose in public, often shrugging it of as being blown out of proportion, a source close to her said that Rihanna is actually worried when she’s out of the limelight already.
Betrayed
Aside from being upset for the video footage and how she was caught on it as if she was doing something really bad, the 27-year-old Rihanna is more dismayed with the fact that it was a close friend of her who leaked the video online.
Rihanna feels betrayed about the whole thing, unable to still believe that a friend of her could put her in a bad light just like that and jeopardize her budding movie career possibly with Disney Pictures.
The singer has been against cocaine but she likes using marijuana occasionally. Just recently, she celebrated the annual 420 day where she and some people fete on marijuana. Rihanna even shared numerous shots of the celebration in her Instagram account.
