Season 1 and Season 2 of “Rick and Morty” had a one-year-and-a-half gap or almost 18 months and Season 3 would have the same gap with Season 2 if it starts airing in March this year.
However, since the production seemed to have finished earlier than expected, the possibility of the TV series airing its third season ahead of March 2017 or before the end of 2016 started looming high on the horizon.
Critics believe that it is possible that whatever planned push-back that the airing date of “Rick and Morty” shall have will be as a result of the team’s continuous effort to produce high-quality episodes.
This was also confirmed by co-showrunner Dan Harmon during the San Diego ComicCon when he said that the success of the show has put tremendous pressure on them to release the best episodes that they are capable of making.
As a matter of fact, there was one episode of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 that was almost scrapped by the animators and writers because they were not satisfied with its outcome. Based on his standard, he said that he was already satisfied by it, but staff writer Ryan Ridley said that they are not.
They were already behind schedule at that time but the production team did not want to release an episode that they are not happy with.
