‘Rick and Morty’ Season 3 Pulls a Casting Surprise, to Feature the Guest Appearance of Vin Diesel as a Pivotal Character

The executive producers of the popular adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” pulled a major casting surprise when it was recently confirmed that action star Vin Diesel has agreed to make a guest appearance, or his voice that is, when Season 3 premieres on Adult Swim next year.

There were rumors saying that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 could return to the small screen as early as late this year but it is now confirmed that the hit animated show will be airing on Adult Swim in April next year though no exact date has been given.

From its usual dose of 10 episodes during its first two seasons, “Rick and Morty” shall already be featuring 15 episodes for its upcoming third season, reports Headlines and Global News.

Vin Diesel shall reportedly be voicing a pivotal character in “Rick and Morty” Season 3, which would be introduced also in the series. While the producers have not confirmed the “Fast & Furious” actor’s character in the TV series, rumors are saying that he would be playing the role of D&D.

The speculations came about when series co-creator Dan Harmon tapped the 49-year-old action superstar to dub the pivotal character during his speech during the San Diego ComicCon held in July.

Vin Diesel is not new to voice acting even if it is a small role. In fact, he agreed to lend his voice to the character Groot in the Marvel sleeper hit movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” shown in cinemas in 2014.

An end to the marital problems of Jerry and Beth

There could finally be an end to the marital problems of Jerry and Beth Smith in the upcoming Season 3 of “Rick and Morty,” according to rumors.

It can be recalled that Beth had abandoned her dreams of becoming a surgeon when she gave birth to Summer at the age of 17. Her marriage with Jerry has been on the rocks since Season 1 of “Rick and Morty” and they even underwent a couple’s therapy in another planet in two episodes of Season 1.

During Season 2, Jerry and Beth were still at it. In fact, some alien characters even pointed out how toxic their marriage has become.

Amid all their numerous misunderstandings, the two remain as a married couple. And it looks like their relationship may finally see some leeway in Season 3 of “Rick and Morty,” notes the Vine Report.

It was Dan Harmon who said that the premise of the Smiths’ unsteady connection is wearing thin. While divorce was a good option for the two, the co-showrunner said that having Jerry and Beth undergo a divorce in “Rick and Morty” is like Kenny being killed in “South Park.”

Based on such hint, it seems that the relationship of the couple would improve rather than deteriorate further in Season 3 of the adult animated TV series.

The best and the longest to date

While most fans of “Rick and Morty” are still waiting for the confirmation of the official airing date of the third season of the show on Adult Swim, writer Mike McMahan has stated that their wait is going to be worth it because Season 3 is going to be the best to date.

In a recent post on Twitter, McMahan said that greatness takes time when he was asked by a fan when will the Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” is going to happen. It could be a hint that the show would not be airing late this year, which was the general consensus of the rumors following the completion of production a few months ago.

McMahan also advised fans to just relax because all their wait would surely be worth it. The writer could also be alluding to recent reports that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 shall have a total of 15 episodes, which is five more compared to the full order of 10 episodes in both Season 1 and Season 2.

Fans of “Rick and Morty” have said time and again that they feel that 10 episodes for one season of the TV series are too few considering the fact that their wait in between seasons is not the customary nine to 10 months gap like most shows have.
