Rick and Morty Season 3 Promises to Become the Best and the Longest to Date, Reveals Show Writer, More Details

While most fans of the adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” are still waiting for the confirmation of the official airing date of the third season of the show on Adult Swim, writer Mike McMahan has stated that their wait is worth it because Season 3 is going to be the best to date.

The speculations about the air date of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 are a toss-up between late 2016 or early 2017 but both Adult Swim or the showrunners have yet to confirm when it is going to happen.

In a recent post on Twitter, McMahan said that greatness takes time when he was asked by a fan when will the Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” is going to happen. It could be a hint that the show would not be airing late this year, which was the general consensus of the rumors following the completion of production a few months ago.

McMahan also advised fans to just relax because all their wait would surely be worth it. The writer could also be alluding to recent reports that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 shall have a total of 14 episodes, which is four more compared to the full order of 10 episodes in both Season 1 and Season 2.

Quenching fan thirst for more episodes

Fans of “Rick and Morty” have said time and again that they feel that 10 episodes for one season of the TV series are too few considering the fact that their wait in between seasons is not the customary nine to 10 months gap like most shows have.

Season 1 and Season 2 of “Rick and Morty” had a one-year-and-a-half gap or almost 18 months and Season 3 would have the same gap with Season 2 if it starts airing in March this year.

However, since the production seemed to have finished earlier than expected, the possibility of the TV series airing its third season ahead of March 2017 or before the end of 2016 started looming high on the horizon.

Critics believe that it is possible that whatever planned push-back that the airing date of “Rick and Morty” shall have will be as a result of the team’s continuous effort to produce high-quality episodes, cites the Vine Report.

This was also confirmed by co-showrunner Dan Harmon during the San Diego ComicCon when he said that the success of the show has put tremendous pressure on them to release the best episodes that they are capable of making.

As a matter of fact, there was one episode of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 that was almost scrapped by the animators and writers because they were not satisfied with its outcome. Based on his standard, he said that he was already satisfied by it, but staff writer Ryan Ridley said that they are not.

They were already behind schedule at that time but the production team did not want to release an episode that they are not happy with.

Thrilled by the new trailer

A new trailer for “Rick and Morty” Season 3 has been launched online and fans got thrilled for the impending arrival of their favorite adult animated TV series, reports Game & Guide.

There are also reports saying that the third season of the TV series shall have a lot of serial storytelling for its fans and that one of the key plotlines is the breakout fight at the start of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 following the Season 2 finale where Rick goes into the Galactic Federation Prison.

Based on previous hints, Rick will escape from prison or someone will bust him out of captivity.

There have been speculations that the Interdimensional Cable plot that features an entire episode of semi-improvised TV skits from around the galaxy as Rick and Morty sit down on the couch to watch it, will also be featured in Season 3.

But Justin Roiland disclosed that the writers are not considering making another Interdimensional Cable episode for the third season of “Rick and Morty.”

The showrunner also said that “Rick and Morty” is bound to underpromise but overdeliver with its episodes in Season 3.
