That might not be a good thing in the long run though. There’s only so much drama the producers can throw on the screen before the show loses its focus. It started out as a sci-fi dark comedy, after all, and many fans would be disappointed by such a sudden change in direction.
The producers most probably realize this though, as they’ve made it clear so far that they are very much in touch with the desires of their community. With that in mind, we expect that they’re not only actively watching those discussions about the show, but are also probably willing to make changes according to what people are saying.
It’s not like they’re limited in time anyway, as there is still quite a long time to go before the show arrives to the screen. With a release scheduled for March 2017, a lot can change until season 3 airs.
One thing is clear though – the arrival of “Rick and Morty” to the television industry was a much-needed event that shook things up nicely, and made people realize that they’ve been in need of something fresh and different for a long time. It started out as a niche show that attracted a small audience, but it’s now one of the most anticipated productions not only in animation, but in general. Hopefully it will stick around for a lot longer.
