There could finally be an end to the marital problems of Jerry and Beth Smith in the upcoming Season 3 of “Rick and Morty,” according to rumors.
It can be recalled that Beth had abandoned her dreams of becoming a surgeon when she gave birth to Summer at the age of 17. Her marriage with Jerry has been on the rocks since Season 1 of “Rick and Morty” and they even underwent a couple’s therapy in another planet in two episodes of Season 1.
During Season 2, Jerry and Beth were still at it. In fact, some alien characters even pointed out how toxic their marriage has become.
Amid all their numerous misunderstandings, the two remain as a married couple. And it looks like their relationship may finally see some leeway in Season 3 of “Rick and Morty.”
It was Dan Harmon who said that the premise of Smiths’ unsteady connection is wearing thin. While divorce was a good option for the two, the co-showrunner said that having Jerry and Beth undergo a divorce in “Rick and Morty” is like Kenny being killed in “South Park.”
Based on such hint, it seems that the relationship of the couple would improve rather than deteriorate further in Season 3 of the adult animated TV series.
FYI: Jerry and Beth are the parents of Morty, not Rick.
