According to reports we got a while ago, “Pocket Mortys” wasn’t supposed to come out for a little longer, but the developers of the fame have apparently managed to push their schedule forward and have successfully hit the market with an official release. And now that the game is live, players have been having lots of fun exploring its world and collecting all the Mortys they could get their hands on. And as can be expected with the community of this show, there were immediately lots of discussions about the more unusual things that the game hides.
The game itself is obviously inspired by the “Pokémon” franchise, although it brings its own unique flavor to the setup by having players chase after many different versions of Morty, one of the show’s main characters. It sounds like a lot of effort has been put into coming up with diverse, unique content for this title, and from what we can tell from player reports, it definitely lives up to the expectations that people had for it. In fact, it delivers quite a bit more.
An interesting twist on the idea based on the premise of the show itself is the fact that the different Mortys the player is going after are actually different versions of the character from alternate universes. This should open up the doors to many different ideas for the versions of the character, and knowing the humor of the show’s producers, we can only imagine what kinds of themes they will come up with.
So far, players have been reporting lots of interesting things about the game, and this is just the beginning, as it’s been out for a very short time. Once players have had a better chance to experiment with what the game has to offer, we expect that they will come across even more interesting things.
The community of the show’s fans have also been very active in supporting and promoting the new release. Reviews on the official store pages are full of quotes from the show and references to it, and there has been a generally positive vibe among fans ever since “Pocket Mortys” came out. Sure, players have the occasional minor complaint about how a certain specific mechanic works, and there are some bugs around, but the general consensus is that Adult Swim have done a great job with this release.
Which must definitely be a relief to many fans, as in most cases a game based on a TV show (or vice versa) tends to be a hit-or-miss sort of thing, and if the project fails it can also drag down the entire brand name with it. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case here and fans of “Rick and Morty” got a game that not only fits well within the universe of their show, but can actually expand it in some meaningful ways. The confidence that fans have in the producers of the show has been growing more and more.
And of course, some fans are still wondering about season 3 of the show itself and when it will arrive. There are some worrying rumors that the new episodes could come with a delay, and the producers of the show even gave hints for that, but we don’t know for sure. Things definitely seem smoother compared to the transition between seasons 1 and 2, but considering we don’t even have any news on things like the plot of the new season yet, it’s too early to make any predictions.
