If previous reports are to believed, Season 3 of the American adult animation TV series “Rick and Morty” on Adult Swim would return to the air on March 5, 2017, which is quite a long and agonizing wait for fans of the very popular show.
Rumors about the release date of Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” started going around based on the statement of Mr. Poopybutthole from the TV series. The character said during the credits sequence of the Season 2 finale that the earliest that Season 3 of the popular show would hit Adult Swim again is on March 5, 2017.
The expected long gap between Season 2 and Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” has a good leg to stand on too. Season 1 premiered on December 2, 2013, and ended on April 14, 2014. Season 2, however, happened on July 26, 2014, or a gap of about one year and three months.
Fans of TV series would love nothing but a regular release date of their favorite show year in and year out so it was no different from the viewers of “Rick and Morty.” But Mr. Poopybutthole shot that dream in the foot when he said that fans should watch out for Season 3 of the show in like a year and a half or longer to see how they unravel the mess.
When he mentioned mess, Mr. Poopybutthole was referring to a couple of cliffhangers that were left hanging during the Season 2 finale that was aired on October 4.
The writing begins
While Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” seems still long ways to go, co-creator Justin Roiland has reportedly started writing for the TV series beginning on November 2.
Roiland alluded to the start of his work when he tweeted on November 1 that he is going to have a hangover for the first day of Season 3 writing set the following day. He was perhaps hinting that that there was some sort of celebration that he will attend on November 1 and that would require him to drink a lot, which means that he will have a major hangover the following day.
Then on November 4, he posted again on Twitter by saying that he has been wearing the same pair of shorts for the last six days. He said that he would still wear it again the following day because the shorts feel clean to him.
According to iDigital Times, if there is anybody who knows the spoilers or plotlines for Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” other than Justin Roiland, it is no other than his shorts.
The outlet said that Justin Roiland’s shorts has been there and will continue to be there for all of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 development.
Plenty of cliffhangers
The Season 2 finale of “Rick and Morty” left a lot of cliffhangers which should get its answers come the third season.
Dan Harmon, co-creator of the TV series disclosed in a recent interview that another fan-favorite character Mr. Meeseeks will be featured again in Season 3. Beyond that, however, Harmon no longer has anything to say about “Rick and Morty,” reports the Christian Post.
Adult Swim actually confirmed the renewal of the show early in September, which means that even before Season 2 drew to a close in October, it was already greenlit for Season 3.
The network has already ordered more intergalactic adventures of “Rick and Morty” for Season 3, which is expected to continue bringing in the viewers and impressive ratings.
Co-executive producer Dan Harmon says that he felt honored to see “Rick and Morty” join the exclusive club of shows with over 19 episodes. He said that it is about time for them to demand that the network allows them to draw the characters going to Hawaii.
