The 23rd and final episode of Season 4 of the American psychological thriller drama TV series “Revenge” aired on May 10 on ABC that saw Amanda Clarke or Emily VanCamp, played by Emily Thorne, completes her revenge on Victoria Grayson, played by Madeleine Stowe.
Showrunner Sunil Nayar says that the series finale of “Revenge” gives viewer a satisfying end as if they have also finished reading a novel.
The Indian American creator of “Revenge” added that the televiewers felt that they’ve read the last page and closed the book. They came out of it not feeling that the series missed anything out. It was a complete and finished story, notes TV Line.
The suspense part of the series finale was actually caused by the episode titled called “Two Graves” as fans thought that both Emily and Victoria would die in the end. As it turns out, it was only Victoria who died but not in the hands of Emily but her father David.
So when Nayar revealed before the series finale that there will be two people in two graves by the end of the episode, what he really meant was that the first grave is for Victoria and the second grave is for the vengeful past life of Amanda. It is obvious from the final episode that Emily will also bury Amanda in her past and move on to a new beginning. In short, the “Two Graves” in the series finale title are for Victoria and Amanda, Emily’s past life.
Questions about the heart
Fans of the show were actually left wondering with the last scenes of the finale episode of Season 4 of “Revenge.” They were wondering whether Emily or Amanda received Victoria’s heart in the end.
Viewers were shocked with the final showdown between Victoria and Amanda, wherein David Clarke, Amanda’s father, finally shot his former lover to save his daughter from a life in prison.
Victoria then shot Amanda in the back before succumbing to her injuries. But viewers were left hanging as to what really happened to Amanda after that.
It could be recalled that before the final scenes, Amanda had a mysterious dream sequence showing her time in the hospital following the attack. She was hazily imagining Victoria’s daughter Charlotte talking to doctors that she could never know the identity of the donor that save Amanda’s life.
Subsequently, Amanda woke up thinking that it was real but Jack reassured her that it was just a bad dream. It was basically a question mark ending that leaves fans wondering what really happened in the end.
No heart at all
Emily VanCamp officially set the records straight for the viewers on her Twitter account when she posted that Amanda did not receive Victoria’s heart.
She confirmed that Emily or Amanda did not get Victoria’s heart, citing that the idea was that it was just a recurring nightmare that would haunt her forever. While it was satisfactory at some point to most viewers, others believe that the devious Victoria deserves more than how her life ended in the series.
