‘Resident Evil 7’ Highly Speculated to be Unveiled by Capcom in Next Week’s E3 2016

A lot of things are coming when the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) commences next week. For starters, Japanese game developer Capcom is rumored to unveil the highly anticipated “Resident Evil 7.”

According to Katan Games CEO Dr. Serkan Toto, an industry insider revealed through his Twitter account that the much-awaited installment to the “Resident Evil” franchise will be presented at E3 2016.

Reports also said that Toto revealed on Twitter that Capcom has hired game designer Jordan Amaro for the project. Capcom hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but if reports are indeed true, then fans can expect at last a poster and a new trailer for the game in next week’s event.

This year’s E3 will happen from June 14- 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California. Coincidentally, the franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year so fans of the franchise are expecting a treat from Capcom.

“Resident Evil 6” was released back in 2012 and although it was met with mixed reviews, it did well in pre-order sales.

Gamespot notes that the game only scored an average of 4.5/10 rating. Also, many gamers have remarked that the “Resident Evil” games were already losing its original horror essence as many games have focused on the action part of the game.

An episodic game entitled “Resident Evil: Revelations 2” was released in March 2015 and another one entitled “Umbrella Corps” is set to be released this year.

Christian Today reports that Capcom intends to make the game a whole lot scarier than the previous entries in the franchise.

In a series of Twitter posts from Toto, he reveals that the upcoming game will be going down a more familiar path this time. Toto adds that the latest installment of the “Resident Evil” series will be going back to its roots.

The first “Resident Evil” game was released back in 1996 but the franchise has since grown to encompass other video games genres.

The main storyline of the game primarily concerns a group of individuals who battle against the Umbrella Corporation as well as characters in relation to them who have developed the T-virus.

The virus, among other things, can transform humans into zombies as well as mutate other creatures into horrifying monsters.

The commercial success of the game led to the production of two sequels, “Resident Evil 2” in 1998 and “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis” in 1999.

However, from the fourth installment, entitled “Resident Evil Code: Veronica X” onwards, the main series took a more third-person shooter approach with fewer puzzles to solve and greater emphasis on gunplay and weapon upgrading.

Fans responded to Toto’s tweets saying that they are looking forward to the upcoming game to feel like an upgraded version of the first three games.

Some gamers said that it was nice of Capcom to listen to their reviews and that going back to where the hit franchise started is a strategic move to revive its popularity.

Some have also suggested that the game should bring back old villains such as William Birkins and Nemesis who gave gamers quite a scare in the first trilogy.

While there’s a huge possibility that the latest addition to the “Resident Evil” video game franchise will be unveiled at this year’s E3, reports says that it will come to gaming consoles longer than expected.

Resident Evil 7

According to the Ecumenical News, this is because of Capcom making a “Resident Evil 2” remake. Reports suggest that two games cannot be unveiled at the same time as they will definitely compete with each other in terms of pre-order and download sales.

Speculations say that the video game developer is prioritizing the remake of “Resident Evil 2” in order to revive the zombie gaming franchise before they hit it off with the newest addition to the main series.
