Out-of-pocket costs on medicines, premiums, and deductibles will go up. Women will have to end up paying more for contraceptives which negate the equality heralded by the ACA. President Trump and his government are committed to low taxes and minimal regulations. Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said that the government doesn’t want people to stop having medical insurance. The government’s goal is to get everybody insured.
The Affordable Care Act subsidies people’s insurance premium. These subsidies made the government pay them which was funded primarily by taxing the rich. The Republicans feel that the wealthy are overtaxed in the US. Given their commitment to lower taxes the Republicans believe that reducing the tax burden would initiate economic growth.
The primary aim is to reduce the tax burden on the wealthy, which reduces the available money to subsidize the insurance premium for the poor. If the Republicans replace or repair the Obamacare, the poor will either have to pay a higher premium or end up with less healthcare coverage.
According to reports, when the Republicans finally sit down to pen down the new health care plan they will find it tough to draft one that follows their ideological commitments while at the same time ensuring Obamacare’s coverage.
President Trump has already irked millions since he came to power. He has passed executive orders to ban immigrants and citizens are anxious to see how he would mold and impact their right to medical facilities.
