Republican’s New Health Care Plan Will Not Include Birth Control; Women Will See An Increase In Out-Of-Pocket Expenses For Prescribed Drugs. Will State Governments Curb The Effect Of The New Law?

Now with Trump passing the executive order to remove the ACA, a woman will have to shell out at least $255 every year for her contraceptives and pills. Times reported that women usually had to pay out a lot more when it came to healthcare as compared to women.

President Barack Obama had addressed this issue and included it in the ACA to prevent women from spending more on birth control pills, FDA approved contraceptives, vaginal ring, and sterilization. While Obamacare didn’t include abortions and vasectomies, it did reduce the out-of-pocket spending significantly.

The Kaiser Family Foundation stated that there was a 63% drop in out-of-pocket spending on commercial drugs since 2012.

Since Trump has already taken a strong anti-abortion stand, as reported by CNN, it doesn’t make sense for him to increase the amount of money spent on contraceptives. If Trump wasn’t to make abortion illegal, then he cannot force the same women to shell out more for using contraceptives.

State governments are coming to make sure that women have the right to free contraceptives and Illinois, Maryland, California, and Vermont has already become states that mandate free birth control.
