Renewal for ‘Wayward Pines’ Season 3 Still Up in the Air as Ratings for Season 2 Went Downhill

The plot of Crouch’s first novel in the trilogy, Pines, released in 2012, is covered over the first five episodes of season 1.

The second and third novels, Wayward and The Last Town– released in 2013 and 2014 respectively, make up the remaining five.

In the second season, Dr. Theo Yedlin played Jason Patric was caught in the battle between Jason Higgin and the leader of the First Generation who took over Wayward Pines following the events of season 1.

Charlie Tahan appears as Ben Burke, the son of Ethan while some cast from the first season reprised their roles for an episode arc.

Shymalan has earlier stated that in the first season, the Abbies were discovered and the second season was really meant to enlarge their presence. However, despite their importance to the show, it’s not all about the Abbies.

If the show gets renewed for another season, then fans can expect more twists to the story. With the residents of the mysterious town in a deep slumber after last season, that’s definitely one cliffhanger to watch out for.

If season 3 will be given a go signal, it’s expected to consist of 10 episodes just like its previous seasons. It’s also expected to be given a May 2017 premiere date following its past two installments.
