‘Reign’ to End After its Fourth Season; Last Season to Have 16 Episodes, The CW Confirms

Catherine also gave her blessing to Claude and Leith, but the latter is betrayed and killed by the machinations of Martel de Guise.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth finally asked Robert to marry her but is devastated to learn that he has married Lettice Knollys.

According to Deadline, the fourth season of “Reign” will introduce Queen Mary’s second and third husband.

Will Kemp was cast to play Lord Darnley. Historically, Darnley was actually Mary’s first cousin whom she fell in love with while mourning the death of her first husband. Kemp is initially booked for three episodes, with an option to extend his stay in the series.

Lord Darnley is described to be charming and warm. However, his short temper would make him arrogant and would eventually be a trait that led to his murder.

Adam Croasdell also joins the cast as Bothwell, Mary’s third husband. Historically, many believed that Bothwell and Mary had a hand in Darnley’s death so that they can resume their relationship.

The show will also introduce another of Catherine’s children, Leesa. The actress who will play the character has not yet been announced.

Leesa is described to be Catherine’s less favored child. However, she will prove to be a tough political opponent for the throne of France.
