Bothwell is said to be deeply loyal to Queen Mary and wants her affection all to himself. He is to become the third husband of the Queen of Scots and shall be suspected of killing Lord Darnley to be able to take Mary away from him.
In real life story, Bothwell is known to have been involved in the killing of one of the close relatives of the queen. There is no report yet as to whether or not this is included in the story arc of the upcoming season of “Reign.”
There are speculations though saying that the conflict between Lord Darnley and Bothwell will surely ensue, and is likely to be featured in Season 4 of “Reign.”
It has been said that Season 4 of “Reign” shall actually see Queen Mary fulfilling one of King Francis’ last wishes, which is to secure the regency.
She will actually be forging new alliances during the fourth season to defend her country from Queen Elizabeth.
Both actors Croasdell and Kemp are reportedly contracted to appear only in four episodes of “Reign” Season 4 but it remains to be seen if that is to be the case for Croasdell, since he stayed longer in real life as the husband of Queen Mary.
