The Season 6 of the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” has wrapped up already and its ratings have proven once again that it is one of the world’s most watched TV series.
Nobody wants to go head-to-head on the small screen with “Game of Thrones” and everyone knows the reason why.
Early this year, the Season 4 of the Irish-Canadian historical drama TV series “Vikings” on the History Channel premiered and the producers decided to have a spring break beginning late in April until the mid of July.
Apparently, the intention of the producers was for their TV series to evade airing at about the same time when “Game of Thrones” is still on HBO. So when the show had its Season 6 finale a few weeks ago, the mid-season premiere of “Vikings” was set.
If the producers of “Vikings” know better, it seems like the producers of the American historical drama TV series “Reign” on The CW have learned the painful lesson of directly going up against “Game of Thrones.”
The second half of Season 3 of “Reign” aired on The CW at the same time that “Game of Thrones was airing its Season 6. While the two shows were of different time slots, the ratings clearly indicated that “Reign” was clobbered big time.
As a result, there have been speculations that Season 4 of “Reign” would be canceled.
No truth to cancellation rumors
It eventually came out that “Reign” was not yet canceled by the network and was actually greenlit for Season 4.
However, the show has picked up a net lesson on timing when the producers have decided to move its airing from the fall to January next year in order to ensure that “Reign” Season 4 would not make the same mistake it did in Season 3. In fact, filming for “Reign” has already started last month, details the Ecumenical News.
Aside from avoiding the small screen confrontation with “Game of Thrones,” the other reason for the delay in the airing date of “Reign” is due to The CW’s network priority for shows with higher ratings including “The 100,” “The Originals,” and “iZombie.”
As far as the plotline for Season 4 of “Reign” is concerned, it seems that it would pick up where the show left off during its Season 3 finale episode, entitled “Spiders in a Jar.”
Bringing peace and prosperity to Scotland
It can be recalled that the Season 3 finale of “Reign” showed Queen Mary, played by Adelaide Kane, grieving over Francis, played by Toby Regbo, which also motivated her to bring peace and prosperity to Scotland.
It also showed Lola, played by Anna Popplewell, plotting with Mary to assassinate Queen Elizabeth, played by Rachel Skarsten, and Lola getting caught and being beheaded.
Incidentally, actor Adam Croasdell is set to make an appearance in at least three episodes of “Reign” where he is set to take on the role of Bothwell, the third husband of Queen Mary.
Bothwell is a warm-hearted bad boy who is devoted to Mary. While viewers have yet to know what his character will bring to the table, royalty is expected to bring out many of his different qualities in Season 4 of “Reign,” details Breathecast.

As previously been rumored, Season 4 of “Reign” shall focus on the life of Queen Mary as a married woman after she married Lord Danley.
Critics are saying that they wanted to know how the relationship would turn out especially since Danley has an ambition mother who will move mountains just to make sure that her son secures the crown.
Based on the actual events of history, Queen Mary married Lord Danley while she was still the queen. It is expected that their story will be one of the highlights of the upcoming Season 4.
