Filming for the third season of The CW’s “Reign” has finally finished. The news came straight from actor Torrance Coombs, who plays Bash in the historical drama TV series.
Coombs took to Twitter to share the news. With this, reports are saying that the second half of the season will contain a big plot.
Fans reacted by saying that they wanted to see Torrance’s character play a huge role in the second season. Ever since Francis, played by Toby Regbo, met his demise, Bash’s character has been put in the sideline, comments some fans.
Bash is the illegitimate son of King Henry with Diane de Poitiers and Francis’ half-brother. During the first season, he was involved in a love triangle with Mary and Francis but gave way as Mary and Francis were already engaged to be wed ever since they were children.
In Season 2, Bash was forced to marry one of Mary’s lady-in-waiting, Kenna, played by Caitlyn Stacey. Although their marriage was forced by King Henry, they developed real feelings throughout the season until problems arose and they couldn’t fix their relationship anymore.
Mary, played by Adelaide Kane, has been the main and sole focus of this season as she has been up to her wits trying to find a way to save Scotland from England and to save herself and her people from Queen Elizabeth’s grasp.
The show is currently on hiatus and will return on April 25 after The CW’s major shake-up in its programming schedule.
It was initially thought that the show would not return for the second half of the season anymore because of the dip in ratings.
The show will be taking on the timeslot of the comedy TV series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” which have already wrapped up the first season by then.
Also, production has already been delayed hence news surfaced that the third season might probably be the last of the show.
The writers have earlier said that they have already penned the whole Season 3 earlier as expected and that they are treating the story as if there’s more to look forward to.
Until now, no word from The CW has come out if “Reign” will see another season or if the current season is to be its last.
Speaking to Vine Report, Coombs nor Kane did not comment if the current season is already the last but they did give out hints of what to expect from their characters in the remaining episodes of the season.
Adelaide hinted that Mary will go back to Scotland because she doesn’t have a hold on France anymore since Francis has died.
The political volatile times between England and Scotland has placed France in a very sensitive spot and leaves the Queen of Scots with very few allies.
In an earlier interview with The Reel Spin, the Australian actress revealed that Mary’s position as Queen and confidant to Catherine will play a larger role when the series returns.
With regards to her return to her hometown, Kane’s recent Instagram post suggests that episode 11 will see a glimpse of her decision to come home.
Christian Post reports that the upcoming episode, entitled “Succession” will see another team work from Mary and Megan Follows’ Catherine de Medici.
The upcoming episode will see Catherine trying to deal with the people who want to take her down from the throne and Mary will apparently save the day.
Historically, it is Catherine that would aid Mary in the long run, up to the point of Mary’s return to Scotland and her eventual plot to overthrow Queen Elizabeth from the English throne.
The CW has already released a trailer for the forthcoming episode and it suggests that Mary will fight to the end to defeat Elizabeth, played by Rachel Skarsten.
