Season 3 of the American historical fantasy romance TV series “Reign” will return to The CW in October but this early, reports and rumors about spoilers, plots, and new cast of characters have been spreading in the internet like wildfire.
The way it is currently trending in the internet, it is obvious that “Reign” has a good number of following and it seems that the show will continue to build on it by promising more royal drama in the upcoming third season.
The Latin Post reported that the show will see the addition of the English Court to the French Court, which was originally the focal point of the series, since the protagonist Mary, Queen of Scots, lived in France.
The Queen’s spy
There have also been rumors going around that a new character will be joining the series who will take on the role of Queen Elizabeth’s English Ambassador to France.
The title may have the trimmings of an official and diplomatic position, but accordingly, the person would simply serve as the England Queen’s spy on the French Court. As the character will shuttle to and from the English and French courts, it is expected that there would be new romantic trysts and plenty of intrigues that would be thrown in between.
The Queen Elizabeth spy character is the second new entry to the cast members of Season 3 of “Reign” in the last two weeks, notes Fashion N Style.
Previously, there were reports also that a sexy and erotic pirate named Martin will also show up and shake things up at the French Court in the upcoming season.
Accordingly, the suave pirate has a penchant for highborn ladies and is looking for a bride. Rumors have it that he could fall for one of Queen Mary’s ladies in waiting. So fans would be watching out on who among Kenna, Lola, Greer or even Mary herself the pirate would be able to lure with his rumored charm.
Prior to the two new possible character additions to “Reign,” there were reports that the character of Charles IX of France will also return to Season 3. The character first appeared during the first season as a child, but the role is now being recast. Charles IX is the Dauphin of France and is next in line to the throne.
It has been reported that Charles IX will play a major role in the upcoming episodes of Season 3 of “Reign” as a mischievous party-going boy who just returned from Spain. He wants to be under Francis’ tutelage, but he is not interested in learning at all. Unfortunately, Francis does not have so much time left in him.
The show producers, however, have not made any pronouncement regarding the possible actors who would play these meaty roles in the upcoming Season 3 of the widely-followed TV series.
More plots
A few weeks back, it was also reported that Queen Elizabeth’s alleged lover, Robert Dudley, and his wife, Amy Dudley, will be some of the characters that will also show up in the English Court in the upcoming season.
Accordingly, Elizabeth and Robert met as children and also grew up together. Robert spends a great deal of his time with Elizabeth though he insists their relationship is platonic. He is both a friend and adviser to the Queen.
The seeming special relationship of her husband with the Queen will have Amy quite worried about her marriage. She will be made privy to the alleged love affair between her husband and Queen Elizabeth. And the upcoming season of the show will likely focus on the relationship of Robert and Elizabeth’s relationship.
“Reign” creator and producer Laurie McCarthy also hinted of a possible development on the relationship between Leith and Greer, saying that it is going to be over in Season 3.
