Fans of The CW’s historical drama TV series “Reign” would be happy to know that the network has finally set a date when the series will return to small screens after its midseason hiatus.
Cartermatt reports that The CW has released the dates for their program’s return. The remaining episodes of “Reign” will be returning starting on Monday, April 25.
It will serve as a replacement for “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” as the comedy-musical TV series will be done with its first season by April 18. It will also be the network’s pre-program before the hit comedy “Jane the Virgin.”
Reports say that despite fans waiting almost three months before the show returns, this seems to be great news as “Reign” has now moved to Monday nights.
Buddy TV claims that the show may finally have a chance to show that some of the low ratings this season were due to the dreaded Friday timeslot.
For its previous seasons, “Reign” aired every Thursdays. Now, Friday nights have been occupied by “The Vampire Diaries” and its spin-off “The Originals.”
If the ratings for the remaining episodes will get higher after the network’s shake-up, then the show has a pretty good chance of getting a fourth season.
If the move turns out to be a success, then “Reign” would be The CW’s second show to survive a Friday night stint. “Supernatural” rebounded from Fridays to Tuesdays back in 2012 and is currently airing its 11th season.
Earlier reports indicate that “Reign” was about to be axed after this season especially since the third season only got an 18-episode order compared to the usual 22.
Along with “Reign,” The CW also announced that the post-apocalyptic drama TV series “Containment’” will premiere on Tuesday, April 19. The upcoming series is from “The Vampire Diaries” showrunner Julie Plec.
“Containment” will premiere a week after ‘iZombie’ airs its back-to-back season finale on April 12. It will be shown after “The Flash.”
Lastly, the network also handed out news about the final season of “Beauty and the Beast.” The fourth and last season of the fantasy drama TV series will start on Thursday, June 2.
“Reign” aired its 10th episode of the third season, entitled “Bruises That Lie” last month and showed Adelaide Kane’s Queen Mary teaming up with Ben Geurens’ Gideon as they try to bring down Queen Elizabeth, played by Rachel Skarsten.
The two were able to fool the English Queen’s spies and made it appear that Gideon has seduced Mary.
It was also revealed in the episode that the French ambassador has truly developed feelings for the Queen of Scotland and it is heavily hinted that Mary is falling for Gideon as well.
Also, Megan Follows’ Catherine went back to her old scheming ways to get what she wants at the expense of her own daughter.
During the latest episode, it was revealed that Catherine secretly bribed Duke Boinel to hit Claude, played by Rose Williams, as it sets her plans into motions.
Boinel striking Claude angered Catherine’s other child Charles, played by Spencer MacPherson, who then forces the Privy Council to remove Craig Parker’s Narcisse as regent and gave her job to Catherine.
The episode proved that Catherine is at her best when she schemes her way up to the top. She was able to gain her son’s trust and loosen Narcisse’s grip with flying colors.
Luckily, it all didn’t go down for Claude as her marriage was annulled and Jonathan Keltz’ Leith promised her that he will rise in the station until he is worthy of being her husband.
Martin, played by Saamer Usmani, arrives back in France and learns that Greer, played by Celina Sinden, is pregnant with his child. However, Greer tells him that she is planning to give the baby to her married sister.
