‘Reign’ Season 3 Episode 10 Showed Gideon’s Alliance with Mary Slowly Turning into Romance!

Episode 10 of Season 3 of the American historical romance drama TV series “Reign” was aired on The CW on January 22 and things started to get more interesting as the Queens try to outdo one another while dealing with their own issues.

“Reign” Season 3 has gone on a midseason break and its next episode has yet to be announced but it is likely to focus on the developing feelings of Gideon, played by Ben Geurens, with Mary, played by Adelaide Kaye.

During the previous episode, it was shown that Mary forged an alliance with Gideon to play Elizabeth, played by Rachel Skarsten, for a fool. Together, they actually fooled Elizabeth’s spies by making it appear that it was actually Gideon who seduced Mary.

But Gideon has truly developed feelings for Mary. Although it seems that Mary is also starting to feel the same which was also evident to viewers during episode 10 titled “Bruises That Lie,” notes the Christian Post.

The Queen of Scots struggled to contain the feelings she has for Gideon. Making matters worse is the fact that the future of her dominion actually depends upon some political issues which she has to attend to, so she might have to suppress the longing of her heart for a while.

It would be interesting to find out in the midseason premiere episode, titled “Succession,” if Mary will give in to the dictates of her heart. But if she so decides, there might also be consequences that not only the Queen of Scots but the whole kingdom will suffer especially when her political influence weakens.

Difficult situation

During episode 10, Claude, played by Rose Williams, also found herself in a difficult situation on her wedding night when her husband Duke Boinel hit her and she retaliated by hitting him back before running away.

Angered by what happened to Claude, Charles forces the Privy Council to remove Narcisse, played by Craig Parker, as Regent and give the job to Catherine, played by Megan Follows.

What they do not know is that Catherine secretly bribed Boinel to strike Claude during their wedding night, which set those events in motion. Subsequently, Claude’s marriage is annulled and Leith promises to rise in the station until he is worthy of marrying her.

Elizabeth and Greer, played by Celina Sinden, also had their share of similar heart-wrenching situations during the episode. Elizabeth is seen being poisoned and miscarrying her baby by Dudley. Martin, on the other hand, returns to France and learns that Greer is pregnant with his child but she is planning to give it away to her married sister.

Getting into Charles’ ear

During the early goings of episode 10, it seems like Narcisse would get the better of Catherine. She was seen getting into the ear of Charles and convincing him to force Claude to marry Duke Boinel because France needed his gold.

But Boinel backhanded Claude across the face on their wedding night prompting Claude to give him the three-punch knockout before throwing her wedding ring at him and shouting that she is the princess.

But viewers eventually learned that Duke Boinel was a good man because he just took in the wishes of Catherine, who is a very questionable mother sometimes, notes TV Fanatic.

Reign Season 3

Now that Catherine is Regent again, Mary is safe to continue entertaining potential suitors in France and her connection to France is arguably stronger with Catherine at the helm than it ever would have been with Narcisse in the same position.

“Reign” has gone on its midseason break so episode 11 will be airing come spring. It is expected that Mary will return to Scotland because it is already time for her to go home and try to regain her rule from her own throne.
