‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ to Offer Incredible Emotional Depth and More, Promises Strauss Zelnick

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has shared some insights on the upcoming open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2” at the MKM Partners event on November 17.

It was Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, who said during the event that they were not shocked with the game’s official announcement last month by Rockstar Games but were actually very pleased, reports Gamespot.

Zelnick assured fans and gamers that “Red Dead Redemption 2” shall be offering incredible emotional depth and more when it comes out on the gaming consoles in the fall of next year.

He said that as far as he knows, “Red Dead Redemption 2” shall have great story elements and gameplay elements too.

The Take-Two Interactive top executive said that the announcement trailer of “Red Dead Redemption 2” released last month has picked up more views than what the company expected. He said overall anticipation on the game has become so enormous already.

Zelnick also explained how the time is right in the world today for “Red Dead Redemption 2” to succeed just as the original “Red Dead Redemption” was released back in 2010.

A barely-supported genre

The Take-Two boss said that they are willing to support a Western-themed video game, which is a genre he considers as being barely supported in the medium.

He pointed out that the conventional wisdom was that a Western theme would not work, which was the case during “Red Dead Redemption.”

Zelnick said that they took a different point of view for a Western-themed game that rarely captures the imagination of the public, details VG 24/7.

He said that the time is now right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of the American West again, which is not really meant to be cute. And that is exactly what “Red Dead Redemption 2” shall bring to the table when it finally comes out in the fall of next year on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

The game’s seven main characters

Rockstar Games has yet to make an official announcement or statement regarding the exact release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2” but rumors are rife that it would finally happen sometime in the fall of next year.

In addition, there are also speculations saying that the game would feature seven main characters which is probably the reason why the game shall have both a single and multiplayer story mode.

Some gamers who were able to see or test play the demo of the game recently said “Red Dead Redemption 2” is like the cowboy version of “Grand Theft Auto,” which is the most popular franchise of Rockstar Games to date.

The game shall also see players riding a horse, shoot on horseback, and riding heavily in the open desert as it takes place in the Old West, brimming with cowboys, cattle and shanty towns filled with chaotic bars and bustling general stores.

The narrative of the trailer also quoted an old cowboy telling the playable character that when the time comes, he also needs to run and never to look back because it is over.

The visual is then followed by the visual of seven men on horseback, the same gang found in the artwork of “Red Dead Redemption 2.” John Marston, the main protagonist of the previous game, could be one of them.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Critics are saying that it would really be fantastic to have so many characters in “Red Dead Redemption 2” with their own unique traits and skills at the gamers’ disposal. It is going to be good for the gamers and the game as well.

There were previous rumors saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is going to be a prequel of “Red Dead Redemption.” If that is to be the case, then the appearance of John Marston is unlikely. Thus, the latest rumors seem to suggest that the upcoming game is not going to be a prequel of the original game.
