The Take-Two Interactive top executive said that the announcement trailer of “Red Dead Redemption 2” released in October has picked up more views than what the company expected. He said overall anticipation on the game has become so enormous already.
Zelnick also explained how the time is right in the world today for “Red Dead Redemption 2” to succeed just as the original “Red Dead Redemption” was released back in 2010.
The Take-Two boss said that they are willing to support a Western-themed video game, which is a genre he considers as being barely supported in the medium.
He pointed out that the conventional wisdom was that a Western theme would not work, which was the case during “Red Dead Redemption.”
Zelnick said that they took a different point of view for a Western-themed game that rarely captures the imagination of the public.
He said that the time is now right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of the American West again, which is not really meant to be cute. And that is exactly what “Red Dead Redemption 2” shall bring to the table when it finally comes out in the fall of next year on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
