Most of the rumors that have been going around on the internet regarding the release date of the open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2” state that it would be released by developer Rockstar Games in the second half of 2016.
But based on some leaks and spoilers that were released by some insiders of Rockstar Games, the developer started working on “Red Dead Redemption 2” immediately after the release of “Red Dead Redemption” in 2011.
With close to five years of work poured into the game, the leaks indicate that the sequel to the game is very much ready and will most likely be released in the first few months of 2016, notes Crossmap.
However, since there is still no official statement or announcement coming from the end of Rockstar Games, the latest speculation about the release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2” should be taken with a fine grain of salt.
A cryptic confirmation
Danny Ross, a former employee of Rockstar has recently taken to Reddit to confirm the sequel to the massively popular “Red Dead Redemption.”
Although it is possible that the Danny Ross on Reddit is not the real Danny Ross who was an ex-employee of Rockstar, but the one on Reddit actually responded to fan questions on what should gamers expect from Rockstar.
Before he worked for Rockstar Games, Ross previously served on the “Opie & Anthony” radio show. So when he was asked by the fan what Rockstar has on deck at the moment, Ross gave a cryptic answer.
He said ‘Really? Dumbass. Really? Two’ which many critics and keen gamers have interpreted as synonymous to “Red Dead Redemption 2,” basing on the initials of the phrases he quipped.
However, later on the same thread on Reddit, Ross eventually admitted that he only worked on “GTA 5” for Rockstar. He also said that he was just playing, adding that “GTA 6” is up next but he, like other gamers, are waiting for more Michael Mann movies to rip off first.
Another rumor from a disgruntled Rockstar staff
Meanwhile, another set of rumors about “Red Dead Redemption 2” seems to be emanating from a supposed disgruntled former employee of Rockstar who goes by the name of AnonDN1978 on Reddit.
He said that he was leaking information about “Red Dead Redemption 2” because he hates his old boss who has not been good to him.
AnonDN1978 disclosed that the sequel shall officially have the title “Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the Old West” and it will be centered on the stories of Seth and Irish, who are both characters from the first game.
He also revealed that Seth is a necrophiliac and obsessive treasure hunter while Iris is an amoral alcoholic fixer of sorts.
The Redditor also talked about several features of the game including a third playable and customizable character, purchasable safehouses, and a gang system that will enable a player to join various gangs or even ride with a posse of law enforcement officers.
Meanwhile Karl Slatoff, president of Take Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, also hinted recently that “Red Dead Redemption 2” could be their next best offering in 2016.
Although he did not exactly say “Red Dead Redemption 2” in his announcement, but Slatoff did say that Rockstar is already working on its next batch of ‘unannounced’ projects.
He went on to explain that ‘unannounced’ projects include new titles as well as games that continue established franchises. It was the latter part of his announcement that had fans and gaming critics pointing out as the indicator that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is indeed on its way to being released very soon, details the Christian Today.
