Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, recently conducted its quarterly financial meeting and as expected, they informed the public that the company has been doing very well income-wise as a result of the money that they have been reaping from “Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5)” since its release back in 2013
Rockstar North is also generating millions in income through online purchases in “GTA Online.” While there have been rumors that “GTA 6” may be in the works as of this time, it seems that it would not be the surprise this year that Take-Two has announced for gamers recently.
In a recent statement, Take-Two Interactive said that throughout 2016, it will continue to execute proven strategies of launching a select array of the highest quality titles, led by new annual releases of “NBA 2K” and “WWE 2K;” as well as “Battlebom,” a groundbreaking new intellectual property from Gearbox Software, and a soon-to-be-announced new Triple-A title.
The next Triple-A game
Critics believe that the Triple-A title from Rockstar could none other be the open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2” as launching a “GTA 6” this year would really be a stretch, notes Moviepilot.
In fact, there are already reports that Rockstar may actually launch “Red Dead Redemption 2” at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 in Los Angeles in June this year
The reports of the arrival of “Red Dead Redemption 2” this year had fans insanely excited because “Red Dead Redemption” is one of the best video games of all time.
The other video games from Rockstar that could be the dark horses at the upcoming E3 2016 are the latest iteration of “Max Payne” or perhaps “L.A. Noire.”
Rockstar Games has been pretty quiet about the release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2” but one thing is sure, it shall come almost six years after the release of the first game.
A permanent franchise
The likely release of “Red Dead Redemption 2” this year is consistent also with the statements made by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick not too long ago when he said that they intend to make “Red Dead Redemption” a permanent franchise, notes the Parent Herald.
Zelnick said that he pretty much know the games in their stable that are permanent. He said that in addition to “GTA,” he can be sure that “Red Dead Redemption” is also a worthy permanent franchise that also comes with incredible quality.
Zelnick shared that he has been asked a number of times why they do not annualize their game titles. He explained that non-sport titles are better served not on an annual basis to create anticipation and demand.
He also added that they want their games to have the highest quality in the market, which takes time and that they really cannot do it annually.
Zelnick, however, assured fans of the franchise that a new installment of “Red Dead Redemption” will come out very soon.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” has been making the rumor mills since last year and it seems that game developer Rockstar Games is about to unveil it in the upcoming E3 2016 to be held in June at L.A.
Subsequently, reports also have it that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will make it to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in October this year.
Critics believe that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is long overdue to come out. Last year, the speculations have been going around that the game could come out this year and not later than 2017, considering that its predecessor game was released way back in 2011. Five years is already an eternity in game development, so much more if it is going to be six.
Rockstar has yet to come out with an official statement or announcement regarding the release date of its highly-anticipated video game so everything should be taken with a fine grain of salt.
