Ratchet & Clank Gets a Re-release for the PlayStation 4 with New Graphics!

Good news for fans of “Ratchet & Clank” – the original is currently being re-imagined by Insomniac Games and it’s going to be released for the PlayStation 4, as part of the promotional campaign for the upcoming film based on the characters. However, it looks like this game isn’t going to be just a reskin of the original – it’s an actual artistic remake with a lot of potential, looking at the current reports.

James Stevenson from Insomniac explained that the studio didn’t want to just release the original with higher resolution textures, and they wanted to actually do something more creative. A lot of time has passed since the game came out on the PS2, and technology has moved forward quite a bit – so now the developers can do more with the hardware available to them, and develop the game in a much more interesting way.

So from the sounds of it, this isn’t going to be a regular remake – it could be considered a new game depending on the amount of content it features. The developers have apparently been taking a lot of inspiration from the things that once made the originals successful, and they are expanding on those elements while adding something new of their own at the same time.

The new game is going to feature various improvements over the original, such as better controls, more content for players to explore, and a more expansive story. There will be new boss fights, new planets, flight sequences, and gameplay with Clank – and all in all, it sounds like this game will be worthy of a complete run-through even for those who’ve already played the original.

Actually, they should be particularly fond of this game, as it sounds like it’s going to strike an interesting balance between nostalgia and fresh new content. This is a rare achievement in the gaming industry, but when done right, it can create an absolute hit. Insomniac are likely well aware of that fact, and the studio also know that they have a huge legacy to work with from the original games, so they are likely putting a lot of effort into this title.

We will also see various entirely new weapons, created just for this game – and actually, much of the player’s arsenal will be based on new gadgets, such as the Pixelizer, as well as weapons from previous titles like the Groovitron and Mr Zukon. Again, we’re noticing an obvious trend for balancing old content with new additions, and at the same time the developers seem to be taking the best features of all games and combining them into one package.
