‘Rambo 5’ Unlikely to Happen Anymore as Sylvester Stallone Decides to Retire John Rambo for Good!

It could have been the effect of receiving a Best Supporting Actor nomination and award from the 2016 Golden Globes and a subsequent nomination from the Oscars for the same category for his riveting performance reprising his Rocky Balboa character in the spinoff movie “Creed,” but Sylvester Stallone has just came out of late to say that he is retiring his John Rambo character for good.

With that being said, it also follows that there will no longer be any “Rambo 5” movie coming along in the future, which Stallone himself confirmed late in 2014.

At his ripe age of 69 years old, Stallone has all the right reason to pick which movie will still suit him and he now believes that “Rambo 5” will no longer be fit for him given his age, reports The Celebrity Café.

In a recent interview, Stallone said that the heart is still willing but the body says stay home. He added that it is like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered so he believes that he better leave it to someone else.

Taking ‘Rambo’ to the small screen instead

Stallone is likely referring to the upcoming TV series on Fox titled “Rambo” which is now in production and is set to premiere in October 2016.

It has been reported that Fox has ordered a script for a one-hour drama based on the iconic Stallone movie franchise.

Although Stallone would not star in the TV series, he will come in as executive producer along with Avi Lerner. The TV show will actually pay homage to the movies and it is tentatively titled “Rambo: New Blood.”

The small screen version of “Rambo” will explore the complex relationship between Rambo and his son J.R., who is also an ex-Navy SEAL.

There is also a huge possibility that Stallone might reprise his role of the former Green Beret on the TV series but as of now, nothing has been officially decided.

It would be a good strategy since CBS already proved it with the network adaptation of the Bradley Cooper movie “Limitless.” The TV series of the same title earned high ratings in episodes where the “American Sniper” actor was featured.

The TV series would have been good promotions for “Rambo 5” to help add to its almost guaranteed blockbuster success but it seems that the movie shall no longer be happening.

Happy with the fourth film

Stallone said that he is already happy with where the fourth film, simply titled as “John Rambo,” left off and realized that there was nothing more to do with the character.

He said that if he cannot do better than he did the last time, it is no use for him to push “Rambo 5.” There’s no use continuing the story if there is nothing more to pull out, he added.

Stallone also explained that he was very satisfied with the fourth movie for dealing with the Burmese situation. He said that he had one foot in a current event, which was the longest civil war in history, placed at 65 years when they released the movie back in 2008.

He said that “Rambo 4” was so brutal that he was actually surprised that the movie got an R-rating. He remembered saying then that it is going to be the last decent film of the action genre that he was going to do as a solo act. He said when he was able to accomplish it, he never felt the same willingness to do it again, details Joblo.

Rambo 5

With that being said, it is just fitting that it is actually Stallone himself who ended all hopes for fans to see another round of John Rambo in “Rambo 5” as he was the one who said that the movie was a go a little over a year ago.

In an interview early last year following his announcement about “Rambo 5,” Stallone was quoted as saying that he was getting ready for the movie and that he already started working out.
