Sylvester Stallone just turned 70 on July 6 and he and his family decided to celebrate in southern Italy for that much-needed getaway.
While there are still trickles of rumors about “Rambo 5” online, it seems definite this time that the Hollywood veteran action star shall no longer be doing the movie.
With his physique and stance, Stallone still looks a lot younger than 70 but his body can only take so much ordeal that he has decided to give up the role and give it to somebody else who is willing to step up.
Sly will be very busy filming “The Expendables 4” pretty soon and if previous reports are on target, he would also do a gangster movie entitled “Scarpa” based on the life of Greg Scarpa before making the follow-up movie to “Creed,” where he earned recognition as Best Supporting Actor in the 2016 Golden Globe Awards.
“Rambo 5” was already dead as early as the start of the year but it sparked resurrection rumors when Stallone posted a picture of Democratic nominee hopeful Bernie Sanders on his Instagram and captioned it with Rambo 5, definitely a different concept, notes Yibada.
Sly’s post led some of his fans to believe that the actor was alluding to the possible bringing from the dead of the fifth movie of his iconic character in the equally iconic film franchise.
But in truth, he was just espousing for Sanders to become the Democratic presidential nominee as he thinks that Sanders would stand better to Republican presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump more than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Sanders is five years younger than Stallone so if the actor thinks that a 74-year-old politician can be a “Rambo 5” character, he is definitely able to do it better, notes Twitchy.
However, Stallone meant it to be more of a jest rather than a hint about “Rambo 5.”
Feasting on the Instagram jest
Internet trolls then grabbed on Stallone’s Instagram joke and turned it into rumors to say that “Rambo 5” is now a go once again.
In fact, in a report published online on April 22, 2016, Relevant Magazine reported that Sylvester Stallone confirmed that “Rambo: Last Blood” would soon be a reality and that there is nothing that anyone can do to stop it.
The outlet went on to say that Stallone will be 70 years old by the time the next movie hits theaters which means that “Rambo 5” will make it to cinemas next year.
Accordingly, the movie will hasten the film’s unlucky drug-dealing Mexican villains, who will not only have to fight a knife-wielding master of jungle combat but also the cunning mind of a savage, aging warrior honed by decades of slaughtering random bad guys.
Critics believe that the latest rumors on “Rambo 5” as published by Relevant Magazine are empty, citing that the 2017 release date looks impossible given Stallone’s schedule.
Old but busy actor
The actor is about to begin filming this coming fall in China the action ensemble movie “The Expendables 4” which shall hit theaters next year so having two action movies in the same year does not really cut out for a veteran action star like Stallone.
It has been reported that Fox has ordered a script for a one-hour drama based on the iconic Stallone movie franchise.
Although Stallone would not star in the TV series, he will come in as executive producer along with Avi Lerner. The TV show will actually pay homage to the movies and it is tentatively titled “Rambo: New Blood.”
The small screen version of “Rambo” will explore the complex relationship between Rambo and his son J.R., who is also an ex-Navy SEAL.
There is also a huge possibility that Stallone might reprise his role of the former Green Beret on the TV series but as of now, nothing has been officially decided.
