The location of “Prometheus” was mostly in outer space set in the 21st century. It chronicled the adventures of the crew of the spaceship ‘Prometheus’ that was following a star map found among several ancient cultures on earth. The goal of the spaceship and its crew was to find the Engineer’s homeworld.
Latest reports indicate that the sequel to the very successful sci-fi thriller will be set on earth instead of in outer space, reports KpopStarz.
The information reportedly came from Nimrod Antal, director of “Predators” who was recently talking with “Prometheus 2” director Ridley Scott, who told him that the sequel shall not focus on the Engineers’ homeworld but on earth.
Antal disclosed that he has talked to Ridley Scott when they met up in London last month. The critically-acclaimed sci-fi director apparently told Antal that he was not satisfied with the story of “Prometheus” that when the company offered him the sequel, he readily agreed to be able to make up for the shortcomings of the first film.
New characters
The “Predators” director also revealed that according to Scott, new characters from earth will be introduced in “Prometheus 2” as the spaceship where Elizabeth Shaw, played by Noomi Rapace, is onboard will be detected by a Wayland-sponsored private military and will go after it.
He said that Elizabeth will die in the sequel but a woman military hero will take her place. Antal also said that the Engineer’s home planet would not be revealed until the third installment of the franchise.
Apparently, the third movie will already have a subtitle of “Paradise.” The first sequel will officially have the title “Prometheus: Hell on Earth” when it’s released to theaters on March 4, 2016.
Non-believers
However, there are still many fans who would not like to believe the latest spoilers for “Prometheus 2” as relayed by Antal. They aver that the first film focused primarily on the search of Elizabeth Shaw for answers from the Engineers so putting earth in the equation appears illogical.
Earlier reports have also quoted Ridley Scott talking about how the sequel shall focus on Elizabeth and the already decapitated android David, played by Michael Fassbender, as they continue to search for the Engineer’s homeworld.
Scott also hinted the possible brewing of intimate but otherwise unorthodox relationship between Elizabeth and David because of the android’s manipulative personality and potentially malicious motives.
The director also confirmed then that the sequel has to revolve on the story of the two since there is no way to have somebody go off into a galaxy and have a person who still got his head off.
Scott added that David is really very dangerous in “Prometheus 2” yet he is also very seductive so there is a possibility that he might convince Shaw to put his head back on his body.
