‘Prometheus 2’ to Feature the Three Stages of the Evolutionary Life Cycle of Xenomorph!

“Alien: Covenant,” the new official title of “Prometheus 2” is already set for an October 6, 2017 playdate on global theaters which means that filming for the movie shall commence early next year.

While initial speculations indicate that the sequel of “Prometheus,” the sleeper success of 2012, said that it shall have less focus on the deadly Xenomorph alien, latest reports have it that a new re-write of “Alien: Covenant” will reportedly put more emphasis on the alien creature, notes Scified.

It was actually Director Ridley Scott who confirmed that “Alien: Covenant” will feature all the three stages of the evolutionary life cycle of Xenomorph.

The movie will explain how the alien creature was created and for what purpose. From the interview of Ridley Scott, it would seem that the Xenomorph was actually made by the engineers themselves in their home planet.

Scott said that the creature was made as a terrifying beast because it is a bio-mechanoid weapon. He added that “Alien: Covenant” will explain that and reintroduce the alien back into it.

The critically-acclaimed director added that the next “Alien” prequel movie will again have the features of the past “Alien” films as well as that of “Prometheus” including the egg, the face-hugger, the chest-burster, and the big boy.

A technical marvel

Ridley Scott made “Prometheus” a technical marvel but the stunningly executed visuals were not enough to elevate the plot of the film the way it was done with the “Alien” films.

As a result, “Prometheus” became confusing and really had plenty of plot holes, not to mention very little in common with the recognizable universe of the movie “Alien,” which it was supposed to lead up to, details Geek.

Without the Xenomorph on “Prometheus,” fans and viewers would have not found any connection between the movie and the “Alien” movie series. In fact, many viewers only knew that “Prometheus” was the first of a prequel trilogy to the “Alien” franchise several months after they have watched the movie on theaters.

Although it was a commercial success, “Prometheus” was an underperformer when compared to the previous films of Scott.

The change in the title of the sequel also means that Scott wants to redeem himself from the underperformance of “Prometheus.” The synopsis of “Alien: Covenant” already explains that the movie connects directly to Ridley Scott’s seminal work of science fiction which he started back in 1979.

It added that the crew of the colony ship Covenant, who are in a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers an uncharted paradise but is actually a dark, dangerous world whose sole inhabitant is the synthetic David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Making the connection early

It has been said previously that the “Prometheus” trilogy is the prequel to the “Alien” franchise and the connection will be made eventually on the third “Prometheus” film according to critically-acclaimed director, writer, and producer Ridley Scott.

There were recent reports that said that the next two “Prometheus” films will eventually answer essential questions including where the xenomorph aliens came from or who made them and why.

As it is, while there is no link in the plotline between the first “Prometheus” film shown in 2012 to the first “Alien” film released in 1979, the common denominator is the ghastly and deadly xenomorph aliens.

In a recent interview, Ridley Scott confirmed that the upcoming “Alien: Covenant” will serve as the origin story to explain events and questions arising from the first “Alien” film that starred Sigourney Weaver and Tom Skerritt.

However, the connection to the plotline would not yet happen on “Alien: Covenant” but on the third movie titled “Alien: Paradise Lost” of the prequel trilogy.
