As we pointed out above, the production of “Prometheus 2” has been a confusing ordeal for many people following the film, and this just adds to the overall uncertainty.
If the film ends up a success, it can easily shoot the “Alien” franchise back into the spotlight and set it up for many more additional sequels, possibly even exploring it in new directions. On the other hand, if it ends up a failure, it could be a disaster for Ridley Scott and multiple other people involved in the project. Although, as some have pointed out, Scott himself may not have that much to worry about.
The director will likely end up okay from the whole ordeal, as he has other projects on his plate at the moment. But the production of “Prometheus 2” – or “Alien: Covenant” – has drawn in quite a lot of people, and it’s reportedly required significant amounts of effort from all of them.
With that in mind, it would be a pretty bad outcome for the industry as a whole if it ends up a flop, so hopefully that’s not where things are headed right now.
