“Alien: Covenant” will not come out in March 2016 that’s for sure and there has been no production that has been carried out this year. It shall also not carry the title “Prometheus 2: Hell on Earth” as everyone already knows by now.
The latest report, which appears to be more plausible than most of the previous reports about “Alien: Covenant” is that the screenplay for the sequel has just been completed recently and that filming for the movie would likely begin in January next year. Given such timeline, it is possible that the movie is now in the pre-production stage at this point.
There were reports early this year saying that Ridley Scott mentioned about the possibility of him not showing the xenomorphs on “Alien: Covenant.”
According to the reports, instead of the xenomorphs, the movie would feature new villains that according to Ridley Scott would be more interesting.
Based on a supposed interview with Ridley Scott, the director was quoted as saying that having the xenomorphs on “Alien: Covenant” wears out a little bit because there is only so much snarling that they can do in the movie.
However, it seems unlikely that the xenomorphs would be excluded in the sequel as the characters were the ones that put a lot of excitement on the first movie.
