Prometheus 2 Could Be Followed by Reboot of Alien, Stories Possibly not Linked!

The next installment in the “Alien” franchise will likely come out after “Prometheus 2” has been released, and while there was initially some speculation that there will be ties between the two stories, more recent reports point in the opposite direction. Which makes sense, as Ridley Scott has previously said that he’s trying to avoid the topic of xenomorphs in “Prometheus 2”. And there aren’t that many possibilities for connections between the two storylines that don’t involve the iconic creatures.

“Prometheus 2” is actually going to feature an entirely new type of villain, although we’re still not quite sure how they’ll look. Ridley Scott has said that he’s trying to make the new aliens “fresh”, and they won’t be introduced immediately in the beginning of the film, but viewers will rather have to wait a few acts before they see them.

It’s also worth noting that, while the stories of the two films won’t be directly linked to one another, it’s been reported that they will at least take place in the same universe, so there could be some consistencies between what we see in “Prometheus 2” and in the next “Alien”.

As for that, it’s been reported that the next installment in the “Alien” franchise is not going to follow the story of “Alien 3” nor “Alien: Resurrection” and will instead just go back to “Alien” and “Aliens”, effectively rebooting the series, although not completely. What this means exactly with regards to the film’s plot and characters, we don’t know – but it might be a good idea to go back to the roots of the series and explore what truly made the first films successful.

“Alien 5” will also likely be the end of the series, as stated by Neill Blomkamp, who said that the franchise has been very successful with its fans, and has enjoyed a great run, and it also deserves a “proper ending”, implying that he’s talking about the fifth film. In the end, the three films will form a trilogy, and Blomkamp specifically stated that he wants to have a natural progression between “Alien”, “Aliens”, and the new film he releases.

Fans have certainly been excited about both films as well, and it looks like they will have plenty to talk about in the near future, even if just one of the two films turns out successful. From the looks of it though, if Blomkamp puts enough effort into his current work, we might also see a solid conclusion to the “Alien” series, one that puts it in a good position in the history of films. Not that the first two films are in a bad spot right now, but wrapping the story up could definitely help.
