Prison Break Season 5 to Feature How the TV Series Has Evolved and Grown Better with Age!

Seven years after the American crime drama TV series “Prison Break” had its curtain call on Fox in May 2009, the show is getting a new lease on life also on the same network for its continuation.

Apparently, when Fox agreed to revive the TV series, it was not looking at rebooting the show but actually continuing it from its Season 4 finale, which is why when “Prison Break” returns to the air, it will debut with its Season 5.

The good news for fans of the TV show is that all characters of “Prison Break” shall be returning for Season 5 when it starts airing in 2017, albeit older.

The even better news is that Michael Scofield will be among the returnees. Yes, fans heard that right. Michael Scofield, played by actor Wentworth Miller, will also be returning for Season 5 of “Prison Break” despite supposedly dying during the Season 4 finale.

Simply put, the producers and the showrunners probably thought that “Prison Break” will not be running on empty and thus cannot afford to air without its main man. So somewhere along the production that shall begin anytime soon, the writers will do everything in their powers to make sure that Michael Scofield will return in one piece for Season 5, reports What Culture.

A big shot at resurrection

According to reports, the showrunners will endeavor to feature in the upcoming fifth season of “Prison Break” that the show itself has grown better with age.

Most of the characters of the TV series have grown to become cult-hero on TV and the good news is that all of them are coming back for a big shot at resurrecting the series.

“Prison Break” debuted on Fox to superb ratings and critics review in August 2005. The first two seasons of the TV series were as good as anything modern-day TV had to offer. From the stunning initial prison break to the heart-pounding chase for total freedom, it was as good as anyone can get on a captivating TV series.

However, the final two years of “Prison Break” could not quite capture the initial magic of the show, as if the show and its plotline have suddenly lost steam. Still, there were quite a number of incredible moments that offered hope for the show’s return. And seven years later, the return of “Prison Break” is now a reality and the showrunners will surely be building on that special opportunity.

A massive boost for the show

With the confirmed return of Michael Scofield, Lincoln Burrows, Sara Tancredi, Fernando Sucre, T-Bag, C-Note, Paul Kellerman, and all their respective actors and actresses, it is a massive boost for the show’s upcoming Season 5.

There is only one piece of the puzzle that remains to be solved. Fans are asking whether William Fichtner is still going to appear in “Prison Break” Season 5 as Alexander Mahone. The actor has not been confirmed yet but his character is certified one of the fan-favorites in “Prison Break” and it would disappoint a lot of the fans of the TV series if it will return without him.

Incidentally, because of the seven-year time difference since the show ended, Season 5 will also have a time jump but it has been confirmed that it is going to be a sequel of the previous Season 4.

prison break

It can no longer pick up from the Season 4 finale for obvious reasons but the showrunners will certainly find a way to make fans felt that they are still viewing the same show seven or eight years after.

Critics are saying that the “Prison Break” revival could be a deep-thinking thriller. But some are saying that the TV series works best as a fast-paced action-fest.

Reports have it that the “Prison Break” Season 5 revival will not have a 22-episode run just like its first two seasons or 24 episodes during its fourth season, Season 5 shall only have nine episodes and is thus considered a mini-series.
