The final season of “Pretty Little Liars” will not air until April next year, but the cast recently wrapped up filming for the series.
Showrunner Marlene King and the five leads have been sharing photos on Instagram and how sentimental they have become leading up to their final days of shooting.
Keegan Allen, who plays Toby, filmed his final scenes earlier than the rest of the cast and gave an emotional farewell to his character. Troian Bellisario, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse, and Ashely Benson said their final goodbyes a day after.
Earlier this month, the girls also shared an emotional post detailing their final table read. Photos show plenty of tissues during the table read and the five main cast members were all weeping.
The leads’ Instagram and Snapchat feeds have been filled with memories of their final days on the “Pretty Little Liars” set. Judging by the girls’ feeds, there wasn’t a dry eye after closing out the series.
The five ladies have all penned emotional goodbyes for their characters and reflected on the past seven seasons. Bellisario, who plays Spencer, have been sharing “Pretty Little Liars” memories for the past two weeks.
Both Bellisario and Allen shared an emotional Instagram post dedicated to one another, as their characters Spencer and Toby. Hale also shared a touching message for his on-screen partner Ian Harding, who plays Ezra.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Marlene King says teases that the very final scene on the series includes Aria, Hanna, Emily, Spencer, and Alison. She also says that when shooting the final scene was over, everyone cannot keep their tears.
The executive producer also says that the day was very emotional for everyone because the show has become everyone’s second home and they really have become a family.
She adds that the days leading up to the final shooting was full of emotions as they wrapped up filming on minor characters as well.
She details that the week before, they wrapped up filming with the “Pretty Little Liars” moms and it was an emotional and heavy day for everyone. The set has also been torn down little by little, the executive producer quips.
Marlene also took the opportunity to thank the fans for making the characters part of their lives for the past seven years and for making the show a success. She thanked the cast and crew who have made “Pretty Little Liars” what it is today.
The Freeform series will pick up with the last 10 episodes next year after an eight-month hiatus. Season 7 is the only season of “Pretty Little Liars” where it will not premiere a Halloween nor a Christmas special.
While the network has not yet announced a premiere date, almost all episode titles have been revealed so far.
Bellisario will also make her directorial debut on the season’s 15th episode. Rumors have been rife that the next episodes will include weddings, answers, and more deaths.
The second half of the final season will pick up immediately where Season 7A ended. Fans will remember that the Liars killed Noel Kahn, while Jenna wreaked havoc and threatened to shoot the girls.
Spencer was shot and Mary Drake revealed herself to be her mother, ending the series on a major cliffhanger. It’s pretty certain that Spencer survived her ordeal as she was seen alive in the promo for Season 7B.
The final minutes of Season 7A gave more cliffhangers as it was revealed that Jenna did not shoot Spencer. She was seen being dragged by Uber A, while Toby and Yvonne’s fates are still up in the air after their accident.
