In the end, of course, Charles managed to get away and the police were unable to catch him, even though they did find Sara Harvey. We’re yet to find out what her own motives were, but this will likely be revisited at some point in the future.
At the end of the episode, Emily decided to ask the question we’ve all been dying to know the answer to – who exactly is Charles? She directed that towards Alison, but of course we got no answer, and this is likely how things will stay for a while. After all, the mystery surrounding the character has been a major element of this show for a long time.
We’ve been getting hints here and there though, and at this point it may not be long before the writers of the show decide to finally reveal the character’s identity. They could easily continue the drama in another direction, but it’s also possible that some fans would be disappointed if the Charles mystery was spoiled too quickly.
