After Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” movie franchise fame and Tanya, game developer NetherRealm announced that the next downloadable character coming to the fighting video game “Mortal Kombat X” will be the technologically-advanced extraterrestrial hunter Predator.
Predator will be coming in July as part of the first Kombat Pack DLC worth $30 which NetherRealm began releasing in May with the arrival of Jason Voorhees.
It is expected that after Predator, Tremor will come next to complete the first Kombat Pack DLC. The developer has announced early this month that after the release of the Predator and Tremor, the second Kombat Pack DLC will follow featuring four more characters including Rain and Meat as well as Baraka and Sindel.
Ed Boon, “Mortal Kombat” series creator, was the first to announce the upcoming arrival of the next downloadable character to the video game by tweeting that gamers should recreate the Predator movie in “Mortal Kombat X” which was accompanied by an image post showing the Predator squaring off with Jax, who is being played by Carl Weathers, notes Gamespot.
Gamers who want to play Predator without paying extra or buying the DLC character pack need to wait a while longer as the fighter may eventually be featured in the game’s challenge tower pretty soon.
Major update on “Mortal Kombat X”
In addition to the scheduled arrival of the Predator in July, it looks like “Mortal Kombat X” is looking to take in a major update soon too.
According to Event Hubs, all indications point to the fact that Klassic Fatalities will come to the game as update as evidenced in The Krypt where gamers have seen some of the upcoming content listed in the ‘Finishers’ section.
Before Jason Voorhees and Tanya arrived at the game, they were actually listed in The Krypt, which now has Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Sonya having a third fatality listed.
The hint goes one step further as fatalities are also found in each character’s move list. The names of the finishing moves fall match up with fatalities in previous “Mortal Kombat” games such as Scorpion’s Toasty fatality.
As the Klassic Fatalities are visible in the game now, it is likely that they will become available with the July update of “Mortal Kombat X.” But it is not clear whether NetherRealm will release the update together with the Predator or separately.
Coming to current generation gaming consoles
“Mortal Kombat X” has been successfully released by NetherRealm on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC in April this year.
As there are still plenty of gamers who have yet to make the transition from the current to the next generation gaming consoles, NetherRealm has decided to release the video game to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 via High Voltage Software very soon too.
