Power Rangers Reboot to Spawn More Sequels; Lionsgate Rumored to be Preparing for Franchise’s Success

“Power Rangers” first appeared in Fox as a kids TV series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” way back in 1993, for which Haim Saban’s company used footage from a Japanese children’s show.

The superheroes have since then appeared in a lot of TV shows linked to Disney and Nickelodeon, movies, and even inspired several video games.

According to Design & Trend, it looks like Lionsgate has the cards on their side with the “Power Rangers” reboot. It has had a better reception than the “Ghostbusters” trailer and has received less backlash compared to the highly criticized “Jumanji” remake.

The website notes numerous factors why the reception was better with the Mighty Morphin kid’s classic. Unlike “Jumanji,” the Saban Entertainment powerhouse is not seen as a sacred childhood relic.

“Power Rangers” has kept up with the times and stayed on air from the ‘90s until this day with “Power Rangers: Dino Charge.” Den of Geek reports that Nickelodeon plans another installment via “Power Rangers: Ninja Steel” TV series by 2017.

Because of this, Forbes claims that “Power Rangers” could potentially become the next “Transformers” blockbuster franchise.

Wall Street observers say that the “Power Rangers” franchise could help restore Lionsgate’s stock valuation and investor confidence after a rough patch that has included a disappointing “Gods of Egypt” and “Divergent” threequel “Allegiant.”
