‘Portal 3’ Rumored Release Date Before the End of the Year, Very Unlikely as Valve is Still Not Making any Announcement About It

As of late last month, the reports were saying that Valve Corporation may release the first-person shooter puzzle video game “Portal 3” before the end of this year on the gaming consoles and the PC.

However, with barely a month remaining in 2016 and Valve Corporation has yet to make any announcement or even hints regarding “Portal 3,” it seems unlikely for the game to come out anytime soon.

In fact, if Valve would be looking at the business perspective of releasing a highly-anticipated video game, it would likely do so either late in October or early November so as to enable the video game to gain traction in the market before the Holiday Season where people usually are more liquid and have the capacity to buy a lot of things, including video games.

“Portal” is a puzzle video game from Valve that involves solving passageways to enter and exit portals to advance the player’s character in the game.

It may sound easy, but there’s also an antagonist in the game that hinders the character from advancing by locking the player’s character inside a portal with no escape, details the Christian Today.

“Portal 2” ended up placing Chell, the protagonist, in a field with a companion cube. The mysterious end of the game left players with so many questions, and fans have been waiting for five years for answers in the release of “Portal 3.”

How the release date rumors started

While Valve has not said anything at all about the release date of “Portal 3,” the rumors actually started after a recent leak from Valve showed that the first-person shooter puzzle video game is already in development.

The screenshot of the “Left 4 Dead 3” and the “Portal 3” folders was posted by an artist named Tristan Reidford, according to Valve Software.

He took the screenshot during his tutorial for the Destinations Workshop. However, the screenshot was removed after the rumors of a ‘leak’ caught fire on the internet.

If the “Left 4 Dead 3” and the “Portal 3” folders are proven to be correct, it will mark a milestone for Valve. The company is known for releasing only the second part of its games like “Left 4 Dead,” “Half-Life,” “Portal” and “Team Fortress” and it has never released the third part of any game thus far, reports Yibada.

More than just a puzzle title

Apart from being a puzzle title, “Portal 3” contains a very solid storyline with a very menacing antagonist, who keeps on threatening the gamers and tries to prevent them from completing the game’s mission.
Some fans feel that Valve is trying to build up some hype for the upcoming “Portal 3” with help from the leak. The leak seemed very deliberate as the user was scrolling in such a way that the “Left 4 Dead 3” and the “Portal 3” folders were seen clearly.

Earlier, numerous references to the upcoming game were found. In 2013, some fans of “Dota 2” were on a tour of Valve’s offices and they found numerous references to “Portal 3,” which initially ignited the rumors that the game may be in development.

“Counter-Strike” co-creator Minh Le said in a recent interview that the game is in development already and it is progressing well.

At the end of “Portal 2”, the game’s main protagonist, Chell, was placed in a field with a companion cube. This mysterious end to the game left players with so many questions, and fans have been waiting for five years for answers which could very well be solved with the release of “Portal 3.”

Apparently, an artist who goes by the name of Tristan Reidford is said to have posted a screenshot of two highly anticipated games, “Left 4 Dead 3” and the “Portal 3.”

The screenshot allegedly came from a Destinations Workshop tutorial where Redford got it. After the leak information spread all over the inInternet, it was immediately taken down by Valve.
