The rumors about “Portal 3” featuring virtual reality technology when Taiwanese tech manufacturer HTC announced early this month its Vive Pre, a VR head-mounted display complete with a brand new teaser trailer ahead of the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The trailer for HTC’s VR product actually alluded to “Portal 3.” The 90-second trailer featured live action scenes in which people immerses themselves in new roles such as an astronaut in an attempt to convey what putting on the Vive Pre can feel like, details VR Focus.
Things start to get interesting at the end of the trailer. First, a man was shown painting a virtual sculpture. Then the camera fades to a new scene showing a woman floating in mid-air. The woman is wearing half of an orange jumpsuit which is folded around her waist with a vest for her top. It is exactly how Chell, the protagonist of “Portal” video game series dresses, and the explosion she triggered actually created a portal of sorts into another dimension.
But just like in the case of “Left 4 Dead 3” and “Half-Life 3,” everything about “Portal 3” remains as speculation at this time until Valve Corporation makes an official statement or announcement, which seems very unlikely at this point in time or anytime soon.
