American game developer Valve Corporation has been pretty mum about the third installments of its popular video games including “Left 4 Dead 3,” “Half-Life 3,” and “Portal 3.”
Of the three highly anticipated video games from its end, the least of the expectations are on the first-person shooter video game “Portal 3.” Obviously, while the “Portal” video game franchise has a tremendous amount of following, it’s not as huge as those of “Left 4 Dead” and “Half-Life.”
Although Valve Corporation has not been making any official pronouncement or statement with regards to the three franchises, all of the upcoming third installments of the video game series are getting good promotional mileage online either through supposed leaks, rumors, or just plain hoaxes.
While “Left 4 Dead 3” and “Half-Life 3” may be getting much of the attention of anticipating gamers online, the prospect of having a “Portal 3” seems high because of the fact that the predecessor game, “Portal 2,” left a huge cliffhanger towards the end.
It could be recalled that Chell, the silent portal gun-wielding protagonist of “Portal,” was released from the Aperture facility and dumped into an empty field by the AI, GlaDOS in “Portal 2,” details The Bitbag.
And also, the last scene in “Portal 2” in the end credits showed the smooth-talking British robot antagonist Wheatly hurtling through space. The robot was also quoted as saying that if ever he sees Chell again, he would say he is genuinely sorry because he was bossy and monstrous.
Gamers are sincerely pushing for “Portal 3” since they really wanted to know what happens after “Portal 2.”
Five years since the release of the predecessor
Last April 19, gamers marked the fifth anniversary since “Portal 2” was released on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Most of them are saying that it is high time that Valve Corporation considers the development and release of “Portal 3” very soon on the current generation gaming consoles.
Since “Portal 2” ended in a massive cliffhanger, gamers seriously want to know what happened to Chell out in that field or whether she managed to hold on to her portal gun.
Some are also asking on who is now tending that farm and why the need as well for the companion cube, notes the Digital Spy.
All these questions by gamers could only be answered in full with the release of “Portal 3.” Thus, Valve Corporation is seriously being asked by avid gamers to quench their thirst for the game that shall ultimately provide answers to their burning questions.
A hint of ‘Portal 3’
During the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2016 held early this year in Las Vegas, Nevada, Taiwanese tech giant HTC announced its Vive Pre, a second-generation developer kit for its virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display complete with a refined form factor and improvements to the chaperone system.
Interestingly, HTC has compiled and showcased a brand new trailer for the kit during the CES 2016 that run for about 90 seconds.
What caught the attention of fans and gamers is that the trailer actually showed a scene featuring a woman floating in mid-air. After remaining still for a few seconds, she raised her arms, which causes the walls on her sides to bend and blasts a hole in the wall in front of her, seemingly through telekinesis.
The woman is wearing half of an orange jumpsuit, folded around her waist and a vest for her top. While it is only her back that is shown, the woman looks exactly like Chell, the protagonist of Valve’s “Portal” video game franchise.
That’s in addition to the fact that her explosion in the scene created a portal of sorts into another dimension.
