Porsche have decided to try their hand on the plugin hybrid market as well, and the Panamera is their response to the growing popularity of the trend. Of course, as one can expect from a Porsche car, this one is packed full of luxury features and it’s not just an average hybrid model. It can apparently do quite a lot on the road too, judging by reviews, and most critics have been very positive towards the new model so far, especially those who’ve had a chance to sit behind its wheel for a test drive.
Positive opinions started with the performance, as the Panamera can get quite a good run on a single charge, and it uses its power very efficiently. It managed to deliver 70-90 MPG during tests, making it a pure hybrid in terms of fuel economy, and putting it at one of the top spots in the industry overall. Toyota’s Camry is one of the few other models that have managed to get such a good mileage before, and we’ll likely start seeing more models with such performance soon enough.
Inside the car, the driver and passengers will find various luxury features that can make the riding experience even better and more enjoyable, from delicate controls for the air flow and temperature, to programmable seats all around. Reviewers have been very fond of the overall set of features offered by the Panamera, and the car is going to be a huge hit with luxury fans if the final release corresponds to the current review model.
It’s quite the speedy beast too, and everyone seems to agree that it’s one of the more capable hybrid models when it comes to pure power and torque. Of course there were lots of comparisons to the Cadillac ELR and other similar models, but the Panamera still fared quite well. One thing should be noted though, with regards to performance – the car can deliver a good experience on the road and should be able to stand out on its own once it’s released.
Customization is pretty heavily accented in this model as well, as Porsche are giving their buyers multiple different options for the configuration of the vehicle. Pretty much all features of the car can be adjusted by the user before buying, or at least that’s what the current claims are – so those who’re after a particular type of car that offers a very specific kind of experience should feel right at home with what the Panamera brings to the table.
