Everyone in the social media community is aware that Twitter is now on the ropes as far as its financial position is concerned. That is why when reports came out recently that it will soon be shutting down its Vine social media site, it no longer came as a surprise to many because aside from losing money, the company is also laying off plenty of workers as of late.
However, an unlikely savior of Vine appears to have sprouted out of nowhere when Pornhub, one of the world’s largest porn sites, offered to buy Vine from Twitter also recently, reports the Tech Times.
In a letter of intent sent by Corey Price, vice president of Pornhub, to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, he said that since Twitter is planning to drop Vine and is having significant layoffs at this time, Pornhub is making an offer to buy which Twitter and its stakeholders could really benefit from through a much-needed cash infusion.
Price pointed out that Pornhub wanted to buy Vine because they wanted to save the site’s gems including “Damn Daniel,” “Awkward Puppets,” and many more.
He also promised that they plan to restore Vine to its NSFW glory because the six-second clips are more than enough time for most people to enjoy themselves.
A good old prank
While the offer of Pornhub appears to be legit, some analysts think that it all sounds like a good old prank, which is downright funny.
According to the analysts, the porn site’s purported offer to buy Vine seems to be just a joke and not a real business proposal especially considering that Price pointed out Twitter’s recent turmoil and also made his letter public even before Dorsey can make his formal response, notes Esquire.
They added that the proposal seems to be nothing more than a swipe at Twitter and its plan to shut down Vine.
The same analysts explained that even if it was a legitimate acquisition offer, it would be almost impossible for Twitter to agree to sell Vine to Pornhub as the latter might turn its short NSFW video pool into something pornographic.
However, a spokesman at Pornhub disclosed that the offer to buy Vine was not a joke but a completely legitimate business proposal. He added that the offer made by Pornhub to Twitter was substantial enough to make Jack Dorsey seriously consider it.
Twitter has yet to make a formal response to Pornhub’s offer. Some critics also think that the business deal is definitely spicey so it would be interesting to find out how Twitter would respond to it.
Gay searches higher in the UK compared to the US
The adult site Pornhub has recently released a statistical insight among its users worldwide and it showed that gay searches on the site are actually higher in the United Kingdom compared to that in the United States.
The site has a Pornhub Gay section and according to the insight, the most viewed categories in the United Kingdom are “Straight Guys,” “Black,” and “Daddy” in that order of preference. Interestingly, in the US, it is the category “Black” that is the most viewed.
There is also a “Fetish” category on the Pornhub Gay section, which is actually 48% more popular among gay viewers in the UK. Likewise, gay twink videos are also 45% more popular in the British country.
But there is something common between the UK and the US and that is with regards to having ‘straight first time’ as the No. 1 most popular gay search on Pornhub Gay featuring videos of straight guys.
The top relative searches also showed that regional slang like “British chav” is nearly 1,200% more popular in the UK, along with “chav”, “British lads”, “English lads” and “wanking.”
The Oxford English Dictionary defines chav as an informal British derogatory, meaning a young lower-class person who displays brash and loutish behavior and wears real or imitation designer clothes.
Incidentally, there was a surprising move of users of Pornhub to momentarily abandon watching or streaming porn on the site to watch the first US presidential debate between Democrats bet Hillary Clinton and the Republican nominee Donald J. Trump late in September.
